All the drivers are on the dell site. You just need to pick the ones you need. Maybe if you list what drivers you're missing we can help?

    The one I'm missing is
    Dell Drivers & Utilities
    for Inspiron 1720

It does not seem to be a listed disk.
Dell say they will "sell" it to me for €25.00

    Thanks

Hang on a second. What are you trying to do? If its installing the drivers simply pick them from the link provided above.

I'm restarting / reinstalling my laptop.
I have the Aplications disk ( came with the laptop ) but I cannot find the second disk - "Drivers & Utilities".

I cannot restart / reinstall without it.

Sorry - not great at tech explinations

As posted above, all the drivers will be on the support page.... use your system service tag to view the drivers applicable to your system.

You won't be able to download the original CD contents - and probably wouldn't want to as a lot of drivers will have been updated by now.

My last post crossed with your follow up info. The drivers and utilities CD won't help you there either...you'll need the OS installation CD.

Usually you'll need to go through the OS installation, then install any missing drivers.

    Brian,

I have the OS disk and the Applications disk but I still need the Drivers & Utilities disk to complete the reinstall.

At least that is what I think I need ?

No you do not need the drivers and utilities disk. The best thing to do would be to download the drivers you need from the link above and put them on a usb key. And then when you have the OS installed you can install the drivers. What OS are you using? If it's vista or windows 7 chances are you wont need to install the drivers manually, it will find the drivers it needs itself.

    I'm using Vista.

    Sorry, I'm confused now.
How do I know what drivers I need to download ( from the Link ) if I don't know what is on the Drivers & Utilities disk.??

This is why I thought I would need the D&U disk.
There is no D&U driver section on the link.

Just type your service tag into the section on this LINK. It will tell you what you need.

Your drivers disk just contained all the rubbish in the original link that was given to you.

Install vista and then worry about it, chances are it will find all the drivers automatically.

Go to the Dell Support link in the post above, choose the option to download drivers.
Enter your system service tag, and you'll only see the drivers applicable to your model.

There may be multiple options for some device types, so you may have to poke around a bit for the "My System Configuration" page to see what hardware options were installed in the laptop the day it left the factory.

    Thanks,

    Link shows 13 files :

    Applications - 2 - Creative labs & Sonic Solutions
    BIOS - 1
    CD/DVD - 1
    Communications - 3 - v92 modem
    Diagnostic - 2
    Input device driver 1
    System Utilities - 2
    Video 1

So, I download this lot to a USB.
Load the OS and Applications disks and then copy the key if needed ??

Yup that's it essentially. Load the OS and if you need the drivers you can install them.
