I am nominating Terminator: The Sarah Connors Chronicles for Best TV Sci-Fi of the 2000s.

Over the 2 seasons of the series the writers were able to capture the original 2 movies. Set in 1998 after T2 TSCC brings the story back to Sarah Connor and her son john as the try to out run a terminator (Cromartie). After escaping via a 'time machine' to 2008 Sarah, John and their companion terminator (Cameron) begin a new life. FBI agent Ellison begins asking questions as to the boys age and the events which happened back in 1998 only to have Sarah and John reappear after a 10 year absence.

The series suffer from the potraials of the main leads. Sarah by Lena Headey really only begins to fit the character towards the end of season 2, this isn't help with the fact that the producers choose do re-film Sarah's experience in the metal institution from the second movie, which shows Linda Hamilton in a very strong light. John played by Tomas Dekker is also a let down while not as bad as Edward Furlongs annoying teen-booper routine in T2 he is far too much like any other teenager in any US Teen TV series and ultimately lacks the strengths that john should have at this stage.

However Summer Gaul plays the role of protector excellently and unfortantely for her character the series got cut short, would we have seen her turn on John and Sarah. And then there is Shirley Mason as the cold hearted mother or substituted mother (
    shes a terminator
) in ZeiraCorp, again the producers leave us high and dry as to what her plans are, but since they didn't see the axe fall they aren't really to blame.

Over all this series is a good sequel to the first to movies. I would say it is up there with T4 but it is far better than T3 and many other here would dispute T4 being better than this series.

Well in 2004 we got hook on the lives of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815, The Numbers, the Backstories, the twists and turns, John Locke, the monster, Darmha, Desmond, The Others....... The Island.

Was it the end of the world, limbo or was it a moving Island.

While not starting out as Sci-Fi it began introducing aspects of the genre or else it was happily fooling non-Sci-Fi fans into beleive that there was something more to this series.

Each week a new twist and more information about the suvivors before the flight. While season 4 was dissappointing Lost remains possible one of the best Sci-Fi Drama's on TV this decade.

It would be so easy to go for the Dr Who reboot or it's spinoffs , (and wern't there a lot of US reboots recently ?) but like Start Trek and Stargate it's not really a show of the last decade. There were lots of little shows in the decade , the BBC was just churning out yet more SciFi comedy ( why can't anyone else do funny stuff off planet earth ?) Life on Mars deserves a mention too for sneaking SciFi into many homes.

But I would have to nominate something that didn't just follow the rules but changed them , something like Babylon 5 did in the previous decade.

It's a toss up between Andromeda and Farscape (have only seen the Firefly film but seems to owe something to Farscape) Trance is a great character but I'd have to go for Farscape. No wonderful ideals, and I love the idea of a living ship ( yes I've watched Lexx too, but mostly for the eye candy ) Andromeda has heroic butand unbelievable characters. Farscape has real , fallible people.

When everyone else was pumping money into CGI they were using Muppets. But it works, because the acting and plots and the whole scenery works.

    Titles

    And for some strange reason

I am nominating Firefly as Best TV Sci-Fi of the 2000s.

Joss Wheddon created a western in space and who knew it would become a cult phenomenal.

The show had humour, action, romance and drama.

It had a cast that fitted together perfectly with the right amount of chemistry.

It was cancelled by Fox after 11 episodes  but it lead to movie being released later and huge sales when both were released on dvd.

Also comics for this series was released.

Shindigs are held all over the world for this great show.
