Well, to begin with, my English teacher is encouraging us to read a variety of short stories to help expand our ideas in essay writing, as well as our vocabulary, in the hopes of a satisfactory grade in the exam.

A good idea indeed. So basically, I was wondering if there were any good websites or books that could help feed my new hunger for short stories. Of course, in addition to this post I will be looking around myself. Not only that but any suggestions will also help the fellow leaving cert boardsies.

    So... any suggestions! :D

Oh and Boards monies (i.e Thanks) will be issued :pac:

Firstly i'd make sure that you want to do short stories, you might be aware of this, but the standard needed, impressive to say the least. Its all about detail and descriptions etc. Anyway! Back to the subject, before when i thought i wanted to do short stories, i bought "Irelands Own" would you believe! and they do 2 stories each magazine?also the sunday times magazine supplement has a short story, maybe a bit lengthy, but great vocab etc.
    Hope that helps :)
    sorry for the rambling

My Oedipus Complex by Frank O'Connor is pretty good. It's actually on the course aswell, I'm not sure if it's down for this year or not but I answered on it for the Comparative last year. It's got about 20 or 30 short stories of various topics, well written. Basically what they'd be looking for in the exam, just shorter but you get the idea.
