Anyone contimplating getting winter tyres for the car ?

Usually you get maybe 5 or 6 days of icy condition on the road.

January has hardly started and we are after more than 3 weeks in a row. English meterologists think its going to continue.

Anyone estimate how much a cheap/2nd hand set of rims + set of winter tyres would cost. Doable for under 150 Euros ?

I doubt its doable for that price, depends on what size wheels you need and if you can get away with alloys or steel rims,I am contemplating it for next winter but i need at least 17's so will have to get alloys.a decent second hand set of OEMs maybe 250 lids, plus maybe another 300 or so for good name winter tyres from camskill.

For wheels and good winter tyres? Depending on size at least 400-500.

You can use pretty much any old set of used alloys, Ive seen whole sets for EUR50. People just have old OEM ones lying about (I do!). The narrower the better for the ice/snow.

Winters Ive seen from EUR60 a tyre on Eiretyres. Those that have got them (Winters, not necessarily those cheap ones) this year (despite all the negativity here 4mths ago) swear by them.

Picked up a set of Funda Monteros for 280 inc fitting, 195/65/r15, would fit a golf/octavia/leon/audi a4 etc.

Good for the Winter IMO not just snow. I'll change them back over in Febuary.
