Tax for iPhone App sales

I have written a few iPhone applications that are available on the App Store. At present they're all free, but I want to charge for at least one of them.

I understand from the guide that since my turnover's going to be much less than 35,000 that I don't need to register for VAT.

Do I need to inform Revenue at all about what I'm doing? If so, how should I go about it?

If you have other sources of income i.e. sale of i phone apps or you are running a business which is selling i phone apps then you would have to register with revenue using a form TR1 as a sole trader or a TR2 for limited company.

The VAT is a seperate issue. The sale i phone apps would be classed as "e commerce" and there are different rules depending on what country the customer is located and if they are in the EU. Have a look at this http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vat/leaflets/eservices-and-broadcasting.html#section1 on the revenue website

I've done this for someone before, if you want to send me a PM I can give you more details.

sale of apple apps is a service

35,000 was the old threshold limit
    the current threshold is 37,500
