Just wondering if theres many boads people out there (who are women) who play rugby? Numbers are low my team recently joined up with another to fill numbers and we cut our u17 team and just have everyone playing u19 as of the lack of people playing.
    Anywhere else like this ?

I know that women's rugby is doing exceptionally well over here, with large numbers of ladies togging out for training in both codes. I'm a student at the university of leeds and women's rugby is very well subscribed. No idea what the score is in ireland.

Is that it ? No need for rude posts like that I didn't ask for your opinion just wondering about numbers etc.

Oh thats interesting thanks for your reply.
Generally teams around here can just about make a full team from various age groups, it's not strange really in the likes of GAA theres so many women etc involved in GAA teams but around here there doesn't seem to be that interest in rugby

Women's rugby is the fastes growing sport in Ireland. Most of the teams I know/have been involved with are doing great numbers wise in the past year or two. Particularly with the success of the national men's team and Leinster and Munster in recent years, it's the perfect time to promote the sport to women and get more to join up.

What kind of support do you get from the club?

Also does your club, or do any clubs in the area run tag rugby during the summer etc. That's usually a good base to promote the full contact game and get girls to come down training.

Have you contacted the development officer from your provincial organisation? They're usually happy to help with promotional ideas etc. but usually it's up to you as a team to recruit and get yourselves promoted and build numbers. It's the more senior/experienced players who generally help build a team. Almost all teams also go through phases of having big numbers/success then periods of poor turnout etc. it's about how you deal with the low points.

it could be better like gaa its thought in most national schools now and secondary schools and with rugby it is a up hill struggle to get girls who want to play rugby, But hopefully thats only for the next couple of yrs with the influx of girls playing mini rugby the no's hope fully get bigger!

I don't know what the craic is with other clubs but I know that Clontarf went from having a ladies team to not having one. Not sure what the cause of this was however.
