    http://www.employmentrights.ie/en/informationforemployees/nationalminimumwage/

The National Mininum Wage is €8.65 per hour. The National Minimum Wage applies to all employees except:

Employees in industries (such as the construction industry) which are covered by registered employment agreements (REA's) and Employment Regulation Orders (ERO's), entitling their workers to a higher minimum wage
Employees who are in their first year of employment since turning the age of 18 (€6.92 per hour)
Employees who are under 18 years of age (€6.06 per hour)
Employees who are in their second year of employment since turning 18 (€7.79 per hour)
Employees who are close relatives of the employer
Employees undergoing structured training such as an apprenticeship (other than hairdressing apprenticeships)

Do you fit into any of these categories?

The only way is to force the wage drop on to the employer by some amount also. If the government reduces the minimum legal wage, some of the civil servants should be put to work to audit a businesses costs, and tailor a goods/service cost reduction that's in-line with their cheaper wage bill.

For example, a large supermarket with 20 employees would enjoy significantly lower costs with a minimum wage cut. But, they wouldn't necessarily pass that cost reduction on to the customer. Irish people are generally greedy and would price fix or continue raping.

The point is, you CAN lower the minimum wage, AND have a cheaper cost of living for the vulnerable, BUT there has to be a mechanism in place to make sure those wage cuts are not felt with a much lower cost of living also. Greedy businesses should not be the ONLY ones to benefit from cheaper costs.
