If you haven't done so already, give it a good cleaning. Buy a variety of good quality sub sonic ammo and try each one, .22lr rifles can be quite choosey and will favour one brand over another of the same quality. Avoid HV ammo as these will give the same patterns as your shotgun unless your very lucky. If that doesn't work, look to your trigger pull, try dry firing with a spent case in the chamber, as you're more used to a shotgun you may be snatching the trigger a bit.

What ammo and rifle are you using?

If it's throwing the odd round significantly, and the rest aren't so bad, my money's on a problem at the fore-end, with the tip flexing and touching the barrel once in a while. You might want to pay attention to any tensions there and see whether it goes away. If there's any deformity there you could sand it down to prevent the stock contacting the barrel.

hi guys thanks for the swift reply the gun is an anschutz the sight is tasco 4x32 the ammo i bought is cci subsonic and super X i think the super X is winchester the model is 1450 if thats any bearings and yes thats why i bought the two different ones i heard that the make can have a difference on the performance

it could be the scope moving in the mounts

Anschutz are usually pretty good for accuracy, I have an Anny 1416 and it shoots very well.
Is everything tight? I mean the action screws, Scope mount bolts and scope clamp bolts?
I use a piece of double sided tape(not foam) in the rings to stop movement and take up any discrepancies in the machining.

Make sure everything is tight and then try again. My 1416 likes Super-X subs.
Bring a mate that can shoot and get him to try it out, see if you are still getting fliers.

thanks guys when you say the screws were do i locate them sorry i am probably like so many others when it comes to rifles thinking that nothing to do only buy one and shoot not that familiar with rifles so i am not going to try and bluff anyone but i do know there is a slight problem as i said i am familiar with firing with them as far as even shooting one or two deer with a friend with a heavier rifles

This might sound like an odd question, but stranger things have happened -- you're not mixing the two kinds of ammo, are you?

If not, I'd lay odds on it being something more basic and simple than anything esoteric. You might just need more time with the rifle to get used to shooting it. How long have you been shooting with rifles alltogether?

Should be a few screws on the underside of the stock that holds the stock to the barelled action.... give them a tweak....
Check all the allen bolts that secure the scope to the rifle..Give them a tweak..

Take the bolt out of the action and check the bolt face(were the firing pin is) for crud and build up.....

Give the chamber a good clean aswell......22`s are dirty little feckers and get a lot of cruddy build up in them...

You should be able to download a dissassembly diagram from the anshultz web site to help you out..Dont be afraid to pull it apart and reassemble it..

good luck with it...youll get it shooting well....Ive never heard of a bad annie...

Hm. I might hold off on all of that to be honest dwighet. I mean, it might well be the cause, but if he's getting groups with the occasional flier while using CCI... I'd actually say it was more likely to be either the ammo itself (because CCI's not the best in the world really) or (depending on experience level) down to the shooter's technique itself.

Generally, when you start taking apart your rifle to get rid of fliers, you're well served by wondering if you've really identified the problem correctly.
