OCD - Thoughts?

Ok, so apparently I have some really bad Obsessive Compulsive Disorder issues.

I recently started going out with this girl and she has been pointing out all my little irrational and odd things.

For example, I have to listen to things on an even number. But there is exceptions to that rule with the numbers 3,13 and 23 because my number on the role call in primary school was 3,the date i was born was the 13th and my parents house number is 23. I have 3 lucky numbers all with 3 in it.

Other things like when changing the toilet roll on the holder, the sheets have to be facing out.

When in a pub and putting my drink back down on the coaster it has to sit exactly in the middle.

If,when I'm walking around I see someone with the tongue of their shoe sticking out on one foot but covered by the trousers on the other it bugs me so much that I will politely ask the person if they would fix it so both are the same.

Anybody else have any other strange ones like that or is it just me being a complete weirdo??

Why would I get a smack for asking that?!

It's not a completely unreasonable thing to ask :D

Recently I've started thinking this as well. It makes the roll easier to get at, and considering the poor placements by the roll holders in many bathrooms, you need to make it easier on yourself in every way you can.

OCD is actually a rather distressing and debilitating illness for people who have it.

It is more than fixing toilet roll and having lucky numbers. I am so sick of OCD being likened to that of superstition and quirks.

Mods - can I suggest that this thread be locked please? This subject has been done to death.

It's quite offensive to people who actually have to live with this mental illness. It's not on to be poking fun at it and labelling people as 'weirdo's'.

I'd probably say thanks, fix it and continue walking along..

Then again i dont wear footwear with big massive tongues that would ever do that..

I wash my hands so often that the right one has become raw and cracked, it occasionally bleeds too.
Happened in the summer as well, I'd say it's the free time.

Also on a more lighthearted note I can't stand my MP3 player being on a volume that isn't a multiple of 5, computer must be on a multiple of 10, other things generally multiple of 2.

If you really had OCD, you'd have three girlfriends pointing out your idiosyncrasies.

    Excellent post.

Thank you. You wouldn't have threads on here pulling the p1ss out of depression or schizophrenia, so why is it a different rule for OCD?

As a sufferer of this condition, it really really annoys me that it's more than okay to ridicule it.

And people wonder where stigmas come from.
