....an online bookie was offering odds on a sporting event that had already finished?

Say for example a football match KOs at 12 o clock but the site has KO time at 3pm, so still offers it?

Anyone ever had an experience of this...and if so what bookie out of interest?

Ladbrokes had a problem last year offering prices on a races that had already finished. If you tried to place a bet it wouldnt accept it.

I'd imagine you would experience something similar.

If you didn't, eventually your bet would be void.

Ladbrokes last year priced up a special on the world darts champs, it was 3 certain players to win, the true odds were something like 33/1 but they were offering 200/1, I myself had €10 on it, later on that evening I received an email saying the odds were incorrect and it was a mistake and that I could have my bet at 33/1 or have my stake returned.

You'd never get away with it!

Although I have a couple of stories of online bookmakers giving me money they never should have.

Over 4-5 years ago, at xmas time, I accessed an account I hadn't used for a few months. On opening my cashier's page I was gobsmacked to see $5,000!!

Nice one....so moral of the story is "take every opportunity and hope nobody realises"? :D

It's best for you (if you want to go down this road) to withdraw the money in a shop if possible as the bookie could cancel your withdrawal for up to 24 hours after if they've copped what happened. If they do notice, you will be marked up and will struggle to get any more bets on.

when arse went 2:1 up at weekend, bet365 still had the score @ 1:1

    for like a minute...

I didnt bother wagering, it would have most likely been void, the odds on ars to win (when they were winning) were 4s

Happened to me before alright, I noticed before on PP that they had not changed the odds for winning outright the Sigerson Cup, College Football (GAA)...

They had 4 teams listed, the 4 semi finalists, but they had both played and I knew the winners. I backed the two finalists at their semi final odds to win outright, both 2/1 or something like that so lumped on 1500 on each... thought I had got away with it and was guaranteed a return. Kept checkin the bets all night and they still stood. Next day the match was on but I got an email 2 or 3 hours before saying the bet was cancelled, was gutted...

Fair play if you get away with it, do let us know what happened if and when you in the clear. Everyone loves a story about getting one over the bookies:)

I've had a couple of similar incidents on Betfair. Last summer Kilkenny (or maybe Galway) were awarded a free a few seconds after the throw-in in one of their matches. The first scoring play market was not yet suspended. I only had pennies in my account but "won" around €70. Felt pretty guilty afterwards as I was "up" at the time and didn't really need to shaft someone out of a few quid.

Summer before I had €20 on a horse in running at odds of 4.0. Got €13 matched at 40. Those odds are approximate. Didn't feel so guilty that time, even though it's obvious someone misclicked.

    Felt pretty guilty afterwards

    Why?
There's enough people around who would take advantage of you so why not do it to them once?

well folks....money successfully deposited into my bank account today! Thanks PP :)

I was going to give the details, but I've decided against the nitty gritty details mainly due to Mike's post earlier and also because I've my fingers crossed this little opportunity may arise again :D
