My favourite game for the psp - the sims 2 pets - is not working right.

I didn't play it in months because I never had time, until last week during my christmas holidays. I was looking forward to my holidays so that I could play the sims. I played it all week not a bother, until this evening I started having problems. I will try and go into inventory for something like an item of furniture and it will give up and the psp will turn off on its own.

I tried starting a new game and doing the same thing and its working fine with a new game. But when I return to my saved game, and go into inventory the psp will turn off.

Any ideas whats wrong? Hope it isn't the psp itself!

I dont fancy starting from scratch with a new game because I got so far - I was going to buy a new house and all! But it looks like I might have to.
