    Undoubtedly the 80's!

Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Iron Maiden blossomed in the 80's, ACDC, Guns & Roses, Boston.... The list goes on.

    80's FTW!

    The 1980's dude.
Rock? The 60s imo (that includes the early 70s).

    The 1980's dude.
    70's, no question.

    We had the best from

    The Who
    Mott the Hoople
    The Boss
    Led Zep
    Former Beatles
    Glam Rock
    Punk Rock
    Prog Rock
    .........

Incidentally, I think the 50's should be there instead of the 90s

    The 1980's dude.
Close the poll quick! The 70's have 100%

    Ahh, nuts!

    1990's fo' shizzle.

If a mod want's to add the following as an option to the Poll:

    The 1960's peace my brother.

Then that's cool with me :)

    I'm a boring fence sitter.
I think Oasis,Blur, smashing pumpkins, radiohead,Nirvana and pearl jam are enough reason to vote for the 90's.But then again I am a 90's kid.

Although Permanent waves came out in 1979 Stateside, but 1980 this side of the pond, added to Moving Pictures, makes it the 80's.
Close shave with the 70's though, Led Zep, Floyd, Sabbath etc.

One thing is for sure - all of those decades are better than the **** we have today.

The 60s. The late 80s were quite brilliant too when you take into consideration the likes of Dinosaur Jr, Pixies, Husker Du, R.E.M., Wipers, Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Violent Femmes, the Replacements. Of course they didn't garner all the attention they deserved but still...

Rock was really finding its feet in the 60s.

However most of the bands who have exerted the greatest influence on rock music until now probably had their heyday in the 70s. I'm thinking of Led Zep, Floyd, Queen, Sabbath, The Who and all these iconic artists and I think in 20 years time this will still be the case.

Also I think the classic rock songs of the 70s have stood the test of time better than the classics from later decades.

Yep, late 80s awesomest time ever for indie.

Where the fúck is the option for the 60's?

A shambles of a poll is what this is.

    1990's fo' shizzle.
Does anybody think that the next decade will make up for the pile of **** that was the past 10 years?

I'm hoping for a new album from:

    Faith No More
    Soundgarden
    Guns N' Roises
    Slash Solo Album
    Another Rage album?

I'm hoping FNM play a decent sized venue in Dublin where I actually may be able to get a ticket to go see 'em.

The 60's is Classic Rock 101, in fairness.

    You got away lightly. :P

There were plenty of brilliant albums over the past ten years if you're willing to look hard enough.

Can't believe only 7% went for the 60's. The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Rory Gallagher/Taste, Early Zeppelin, Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Love, Janice Joplin, The Doors...the list goes on.
    60's>70s>90s>80s.

The 70's. Pink Floyd. 'Nuff said.

I love them all but I grew up with Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard and AC/DC. 80's for me.

    The 1980's dude.
The 70's , by the 80's the incidentals of what rock was had somehow been replaced with playing as fast as you could, as drunk as you could.

    Bull**** basically.

Which Decade? For me, 1968 to about 1997 (Massive Attack - Mezzanine), ;)

    I'm a boring fence sitter.
Close call between the 90s and the 70s but in the end I had to go 90s. With Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Nirvana, RATM, Pearl Jam, it's hard to think otherwise

And in fairness, there were some fantastic bands from the last decade

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,940 ✭✭✭Corkfeen

The 60's and 70's without a doubt. So many feckin' legends became greats back then.

We just had the noughties. Does not not qualify as a decade?

Lily Allen, Dizzy Rascal, P Diddy, Britney... the list is endless.

    Agreed.

    I actually voted 90s, but in reality, I meant about 1984/5 - 1994/5.

I'm gonna agree with the damn 00's. Just because what you hear on the radio is crap doesn't mean there aren't good bands.

And I suppose I'm going to be accused of being naive or something.

70's, when Bon Scott was front man for AC/DC
