    How did it go for everyone this season? not the biggest success for us this year and we've lost one of the people who umpired for us

    i think a lot of teams agreed amongst themselves to ignore the rule, i think we may only have used the rule 3 times during the season? maybe it was a bit more but i'd doubt we used it half the time.
    getting 11 out is a struggle for most teams, to get someone to travel (considerable distances at times) to 'just' umpire is just too difficult. i wonder will it be revisited? though with the reduction in games next season i can see it being even more difficult, and the fact is it rewards players who are ignorant or not confident enough in their knowledge of the laws and penalises those who are prepared to umpire.
    if i was injured i'd probably offer to umpire a few games, but i'd much rather play than umpire.
