    Hi Guys,

Is the weight difference the only advantage the 20g has over the 12g...?

Does the 12g always have more knocking power or does the punch factor more so depend on the cartridge used in each type...?

    Cheers.

Friend of mine switched to 20G from 12G he reckons he'll never go back to 12G and he shoots a lot of game and vermin with his.

Both my uncles have moved to 20 bores for game shooting and will never go back to a 12. They are generally lighter but dont forget they are also slimmer if built on the proper 20 bore action. They have enough power to kill. What do you want to shhot with it?

They also tend to throw very tight patterns due to the smaller bore.

    How much tighter, exactly?

I have both and love both, the only reason i have a 12g is when shooting pigeons or clays the shells are way less expensive and far more common. My first gun was a 20g lumar, still have it the old man uses it now cause its so lite. It will kill every bit as good as a 12g and can over kill because of the tight pattern taking chokes into consideration.
So all in all a great little gun.
