I'm just about to record a new demo and I'd like to enter my songs into any competitions going. Does anyone know of any coming up?

Also, It would be really cool if this could be stickyed so people could keep coming back to it.

Suggest you join Sonicbids as there are competitions advertised there every day. Usually a fee to enter but that's how Sonicbids works.

Eurosong is coming up link here http://www.rte.ie/tv/eurovision/

    Good luck

I have no idea,... Yet. But I'll tell you in this forum when I know.
Just let me know here if you want to know.
Maybe you can tell us any places you have found in the meantime.??
That is: besides Eurosong and X-factor, we all know them, unfortunately.

We are doing something very soon and will spill the bean when it official.

In the mean time, share some ideas on the kind of songwriting competitions you would like to see more of. And don't say eire-vision:D

    Fee-Less ........Done ;)

I guess I mean something fresh and new, different type of prizes that are practical and not a worthless record deal.

What would you like to win?

Haha. A "worthless" record deal. Great. :L

If its a songwriting competition, I'm guessing it would be a judgement of all the songs and choosing the best one. The best song may not be represented with the best voice. ;) Record deals would be useless to them, as may what I was going to suggest, recording time in a studio.

On for all vouchers. They'd find something to do with them. :p :L

Pro member in Emeraz get free studio time already. ;) Just not on the news section yet. We have 5 confirmed studios and will have a nice booking system online so you can pick and choose when and where. It is limited of course but we feel it's a nice add on.

In the mean time if you want free studio time then email me though the site and make a request. I'll get back to you with options.

For the competition...we have picked 1st prize already but vouchers for various music related stores/studios etc is a great idea. Thanks ;)

I'm quite confused on the Emeraz competition... Does this mean that you have to team up with someone else and write a song with them?

Sorry, I'm quite silly and easily confused... :L

    Yeah, pretty much :)

If you have an idea for a song then upload it and work with one or more people to finish it off.
Or pick a collaboration (or sketch as we call it) and write something for it uploading your part. That's it. All songs finished by the 10th of November will be listened to by the 5 Judges and 5 finalists are chosen. The it's up to you to vote for the winner.

Where online collaboration really works well is, for example, I write full backing tracks but wouldn't be a strong enough singer to top the charts :p. Here I can upload the backing track, find a singer, then mix with the new vocals and there's a song finished. Here is one I did with a guy, Chris, in the states in exactly that way.

Managed to get this song published and made a few quid from it so it works.

BTW, there are more prizes to be added to the pot so keep an eye out ;)
