Not ar*sed about the topic or debate so to speak as I don't listen to, purchase, or give a fck really about beatport... nor can I be bothered doing so.

However, some nice tracks there! Been meaning to check out more from Legowelt, will purchase now on the strength of that track.

Can't beat a bit of UR also.

Go through legowelts back catalogue, particulary his collections of unrelseased stuff. So many gems. This was his biggest track, I don't think he is as active anymore.

Youtube came up a bit short for his stuff.

Check out his albums 'Classics' and 'Astro Cat Disco'.

His land of lonzo release is fairly recent and I love it, really spacey sound so it probably wouldn't be sort of thing you could play out.

He had a few excellent releases in 09. The Vatos Locos album and the lovestory SH21 releases in particular.

Feck it I'll just buy an album so... most of what I listen to these days wouldn't be played out anyway, unless you wanted people to sit back and chill :pac:

Same here, although I will listen to thundering techno at home just as easy. Most of his stuff is here.

much as I like the hypertic track, I do see where the OP is coming from.

I won't go near beatport anymore (whatpeopleplay.com is so so so much better) simply for the fact that the place is just unusable. SOOOOO much crap gets on there every day so that the only way to find anything even listenable is by trawling through the top 100's.

And that doesn't even yield great results.
If you went into a bricks n mortar record shop and were only really able to make your way through their top 100 charts, it'd be crap. And that's what beatport is like at the moment.

I was a big supporter of beatport until whatpeopleplay started to get going and by God I am never going back.

Judging by how easy it is to push tracks into the charts by buying a couple of copies yourself (I know of someone who did this a few months ago), I imagine the volume of digital sales are really really unimpressive right now on beatport.

The only time I ever went near the site I think was to listen to one of your tracks.

That aside once you start calling people dick heads for their personal choice in music, the discussion is as good as over.

you listen to the jap popstars?
    lol, game set and match.

Dance music makes up a small portion of all the music I listen to, and the Japstars make up a tiny portion of the small portion that is dance music, so hardly game set and match.

This looks quite suspicious, 2/3 accounts started in December with low post counts and similar vaguely troll-like view points. Hmm.

But on the off-chance the OP is for real, any kind of music chart rated by the amount of people buying said music is going to be awful. If we go by that logic then Joe from the X-Factor is the best artist around at the moment. Just because Beatport is for specialist dance, doesn't mean these rules don't apply.

i havnt heard of any of the producers on that beatport page. i dont really get the OPs main gripe? is it that a lot of ****/generic/unimaginative music is popular? wow, your not on something there...

who even uses beatport? i wouldv thought that beatports typical customers are quasi-professional djs who buy **** loads of electro/tech house/ minimal to beef up their boring warm up sets. i wouldnt use their bestsellers list as a barometer of anything, esp not whats "hip" and "cool" with electronic music fans.

thats what boomkat is for, non?

thats a mistake. NONE of them are even techno.

theyre hard house. its like someone ****ed up their genre on beatport.

"12" thumpers" for **** sake. thats clearly not techno, used to love them shams when i was a teenager.

and besides, arnt the regular charts dictated by people purchases, so theoretically more people have bought them than any other tunes.

any i dont know where your pulling this chart from either, - its not the techno chart.

AND i like jap popstars. great act live imo

Right, I've cleaned up the thread a bit in an effort to get it back on topic.

I was going to lock it, but there is a good discussion to be had here about Beatport, I will edit the OP and title to make it less condescending though.

Massive Muscles - Since you started here your posting style is often condescending towards others musical tastes and even trolling for a reaction. Consider this a warning, cut it out or face having to take a break from posting here.

What a load of rubbish. You deleted posts where I caught out electrobloke for talking ****e. Boards overmoderating strikes again.

    Oh and beatport is deadly.

Nomadic - All the posts were off topic and therefore removed. I would rather not have had to do it. But the thread was descending into a slagging match. There's lots of other forums where you can slag away to your hearts content. If you dont agree with the moderating on this one, feel free to raise the issue in the Helpdesk or Feedback forums
    Yeah who is this cúnt?

    One week ban for abuse.

I've never thought of boomkat for what is hip or cool, just a source of good music.

Because I am neither hip or cool, but do frequent boomkat for great music :pac:

Suspecting the OP of trolling is hardly talking shite, nor is suspecting the other newly reg who immediately jumped in to support him at the start of the thread...It's also pretty justified by this:
    Yeah who is this cúnt?

Mods sorry for the handbags, I've no idea why this guy is being so defensive

I wouldn't use Beatport to find new tunes, so I don't use the top 100s at all. It is good for finding rare tunes though, that's the only reason I use it, for getting tunes the smaller sites don't have.

Seems like we've spawned a monster on this one!!Ha

Just to clarify to the OP MassiveMuscles we're not saying our music is universally brilliant just because it got into the Beatport Techno Top 20.Obviously people have different tastes which we respect but from a production point of view its always nice to see some form of recognition for your work and in this case it happens to be that it sold well on Beatport.

Im sure some people think the music that sells well on Beatport is generic and it might well be the case.We just wouldnt like to be lumped in with that view as we have a diverse range of productions.

Heres a track we made called Monsoon that we'd consider to be far more musical and better than Less Ket More Success.Im sure knowing the music buyers of the world it wont sell anywhere near the amount Less Ket has.
