Rossetti frame looks like a Ribble/Pedalforce.

edit: 50mm full carbon clinchers for <€700.

Is it down to a mould of a bike been sold on from a "reputable" company then some Asian company mass producing cheaply.

Before anyone has a go :D I know most bikes are produced in Asian.

I'm just curoius about the frames, look great, I found some other sites where members have purchased.

The Sram gear is worth the price alone.

Steer well clear of anyone that is not a gold supplier on alibaba or ec21. They'll take your money and run.

That Rossetti looks like nothing special for the price. The own branded stuff might be ok, might not, I wouldn't take the chance. The frame is similar to the ribble, pedalforce etc... and you can get a full Rival groupset for little over 500 euro on Merlincycles for one. Plus you don't get shafted for customs and shipping. If I were you I would get the Rival groupset on Merlin or somewhere like that. Pick up the Ribble frame, or the Planet X or a Pedalforce whichever tickles your fancy. Get the Shimano RS80 wheels on Merlin also, then spend whats left over on bars, saddle, stem etc... You should get a similar machine for the same or less money with brand name parts and the pleasure of having built it yourself.

That or just buy the planet X Ultegra deal if its still on for about half the money and probably a better bike, spend the money you save one some flashy wheels and other bits. If you really want Rival the Boardman in Halfords is a fine bike for the money (although I would upgrade the wheels)

Your right and I also saw this

    http://www.theedge-sports.com/acatalog/Carbon_Frame_Bikes.html, with Ultegra for €1750

PlanetX is still in front though, big savings and could invest on a good set of wheels.

The Rossetti was just sheer curiosty.

I think there's probably nothing wrong with it. The PFs and Ribbles get good reports. Nothing wrong with a prettily painted generic frame.

btw, you did notice that those groupsets were minimum order 20?

    Nope!!!!!!!!!!:D

My curiousity started when I saw this

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250552079051&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Did a bit of searching which led me to Indonesia....... and all the links I've posted.

Actually that is weird, a fried asked me what I thought of the Kuota Kharma with Ultegra and Fulcrum Racing 7's for €1750. I was just going to post it up tonight and then I came across this. Well, what do ye think of it? I don't think its too bad at all for that price. I let him know about the Planet X offer but I have a feeling that he is the kind of guy who would rather not buy online. I think he could do a lot worse than the Kuota though, what do you think? Good brand name as far as I am aware. Anyone dealt with "The Edge Sports" yet? They have anew cycling team for 2010 I have heard a little about! ;) Thanks in advance, any help much appreciated. Cheers

    EDIT: @ kerryscoob

As regards to inserting links in an easier to read format here it goes. There are two ways.

One way (easier way in my opinion) is just write the words you want to appear as the link (will be underlined and in blue font) just like you would in a normal sentence, then highlight them, go to the toolbar at the top and click on the logo with the globe to make it a link, a popup window will appear, and then just type in the url (the is the http://www.example.ie... part) which you can just copy and paste in.

The second way which is a bit longer, it to write it in the following format...
Text you want to be displayed[/url)
...again you can just copy and paste in the url and please note that the final bracket after the url should be square ] and not round )...I only did that so it wouldn't recognise it as a link so you could see the format in which you have to write it.

Hope this helps! If you don't understand I will try and explain it again in a differenct way or someone else can try and make it a bit easier for you. Best of luck! ;)

Have gone in to look at the Kharma twice, I think for additional €200 you can get an upgrade to the Mavic Aksiums. But that could be for another day.

I must admit a beautiful bike on the eye, Ultegra, good reviews, a price that I can't seem to find better in the UK, and there is the added bonus of your LBS. If buying on-line is a fear, I think a very good deal.

Yes I think it is a good deal too, I might just tell him to go for it. Is the Ultegra on it in the shop the 6600 (normal or ice grey) or the new 6700? If they would be getting one in/building one up do you know which Ultegra it would be? It actually does look really lovely in those pictures on the official Kuota website. I much prefer the white though, do the Edge Sports offer it in that colour by any chance?

P.S. Honestly I don't think the €200 to upgrade to Mavic Aksiums is worth it as there is only a marginal difference in them price wise. See here and here! Around €20 there. Even closer on price in CycleSuperstore here and here. Great prices there actually, anyone know if they have the Aksiums in black for the same price or if they even sell them and if they are last years model (which the picture shows) or the new 2010 model (which the spec matches)? I need a new set of training wheels as my cheap stock Bontrager SSR's have had it...plus they weigh 2.3kg...good for training purposes though! :p Mavics or Fulcrums which would you go for? Probably a topic in itself but just a quick answer will do! Cheers

Also, you are welcome for the link tips. Enjoy using them now! Haha :D

The offer I saw has a white on show which I think is the 2010 model, not sure about the Ultegra model.

I'm looking for a carbon bike for the son ca. height 5ft 8" and growing, I'm not pushed about if it's new or second hand so I'm just trawling the net.

The Kuota is a nice bike. Have seen plenty of them around, if I recall correctly they had a team in the RAS as well. They are prettier than the Scott CR1 on the same site, its a shame that the Scott comes with a lower groupset for the same money because I'd prefer the Scott frame, its not as pretty, but I bet its lighter and its a great frame with a fantastic pedigree, it was their pro tour bike for Saunier Duval before the addict (used by Columbia) was released.

Askiums are hardly a 200 euro upgrade over Fulcrum 7's (you can get them for between 160-180 euro new!). I would say that the Fulcrum 7's are roughly the same performance and weight wise.

Either way, picking up something on that site would be a better idea than any of those ebay jobbies.

EDIT: - If you are buying for your son and he is 5'8 and growing I reckon the Planet X might be a good deal. You will lose very little on the resale should he outgrow it... less than you would on the Kuota etc... I sell a few secondhand bikes on our club site and I see that bikes for up to 1000 tend to shift, ones for more than that, not so much. Also, more importantantly, the Planet X in a size Medium would fit your son, it would tend slighly towards the large side but would accomodate him up to nearly 6ft if he is still growing, with just some stem upgrades.... worth thinking about. It is a fully compact design, I won't go into the science of it, but in general it can accomodate a wider range of sizes than the more standard (if not completely so) sizing of the Kuota and similar.

I posted the link above to CycleSuperstore for the Aksiums and Racing 5s7s...€125
and €120 respectively. Which would you go for, coming from your experience! ;)

EDIT: Whoops, meant to say 7s...fixed that there! Sorry

Tough one. They seem to be Fulcrum 7's in your link (not significantly worse than the 5's if you ask me). If it's 5's vs Askiums, I have had both, I still have the fulcrum 5's. They are more or less the same weight, both are pretty tough, both roll well. It's a difficult call. I'd probably just go with what I liked the look of best.

One thing I noticed with the Fulcrums is that they are a pain to change a tyre on, especially at the side of the road and I tend to get slightly more pinch flats with them than the Mavic wheels I have. Its not a common enough occurence for it to be a deal breaker, but I am wary of it all the same and tend to carry metal tyre levers when I am riding the Fulcrums instead of the usual plastic Nylon ones. Perhaps its just the tyres I use, which are Continental's.

Thanks for advice, I will definitely take it on board, I may require your services/advice when having to decide the full spec. for the planet.

Thanks Quigs, I genuinely really appreciate it (and meant to say 7's so fixed that there, sorry). Just waiting for CSS to get back to me on which year they are and colours available (for the Mavics that is, would probably choose them). Cheers! ;)
