Edinburgh fringe and tattoo schedules?

    Thinking of making a trip over there this year to check both of these out. They're both on in August, so it's handy, but I'm wondering when I can start planning my trip; does anyone have any guesstimates as to when the schedules for these events will be available? Are they usually fairly organised and I can start checking things out around March/April or am I more likely to be checking it out a week before hand?

    I think the brochure for the Fringe comes out in June and then booking opens late June/early July. But I would advise you to look into accommodation a lot earlier than that. The whole place gets totally mad and lots of hotels/B+Bs get booked out.

    When you say 'now to get tickets', I'm guessing I don't really need a 'schedule' per se for the Tattoo? It's the same 'performance' every night and I'm better off getting tickets for a night I know I'm going to be in Edinburgh as early as possible?

    Yeah the fringe is in August usually the 4th to the 26th or there abouts so id book tickets for around then.

    The tattoo sells out fast, very popular with americans.
