wedding dress for five foot bride

Hi would anyone have any advice on style of wedding dress for a petite woman five foot. Can't wear heels as I've got narrow size 2 foot. Tried on some dresses but im drowning in them! Help!

As for shoes, lots of Communion shoes are now available with heels. Unfortunatley, as with everything these days, a lot of these shoes are rather "grown up" for children's communions, but may be suitable for you.

I'm 5'2" and this is the dress I chose http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=A612 (looked gorgeous on but never got the blasted thing). I think the narrower skirt is better on us dinky people - the big poofy dresses just swamp you. They do a petite length which was perfect for me with heels and and the cut of the skirt means it could be easily turned up a little for wearing with flats. Don't stress too much about getting flat wedding shoes either - communion shoes are a good idea (my mum wore a communion dress!) or you don't have to have white satin at all - I wore silver shoes from Schuh - they were fab and I can wear them again.

One thing I'd advise is not getting colour on it - I tried a few with either colour bands at the neckline, waist or the floor, or with coloured embroidery and they made me look about a foot shorter.

hi if you find a dress that u like but its a few inchs too long(4"-5") i have a clothing alteration shop in phisbhoro where i alter wedding dresses, so u could come in and i could alter it for you, good luck

I'm 5'1" and got a regular dress, they just had to chop almost 10 inches off it! Mine was poofier than I had imagined but it was perfect.

The only style I can see not working are the fishtail types where they narrow at the end and then flare again.

Don't worry, try on a selection of dresses, they'll all have to be altered anyway and can be altered based on the shoes you plan to wear.

thanks for all the advice!! Got a lovely gown David's bridal gown in NY matched perfectly with silver shoes from NEXT. Have to get inches off of it but its a straight dress suited to getting chopped!! My dressmaker is fab and as a favour is making bags for the flower girls with what's cut off.
