    RIP Michael.

Can't say I read his reviews regularly... but from a read of the piece above, he seemed to genuinely love what he did.

    Very sad!

I believe he'd been ill for awhile. In the last Ticket he said he was looking forward to coming back to work.

    Very sad to hear. RIP.

Sad news, not a fan I have to say but he did get the Dublin Film Festival up and running when such an undertaking seemed a bit unlikely, thats something that'll keep his memory alive.

    Very sad news.
I used to love watching freeze frame when it was on, his reviews were never far off the mark.
    RIP

I met him a few times, volunteering at the Dublin Film Festival, he was always polite and friendly to everyone, and maintained an enormous infective enthusiasm for film and filmaking.

He had a minor cameo in the 2nd series of Bachelors Walk where he played a pretentious man in a gallery, he turned up on set and asked to Ad lib his own lines, he was lovely...

A shame, seemed like a decent chap whenever he was on radio, etc. 58 is no age, really. RIP.

An excellent film critic. He had a real passion about him.

Really was a decent bloke who loved cinema, had many a chat with him at the JDIFF and always enjoyed his company.

What a shame. Way too young to die.

RIP Michael Dwyer. I remember his review for Vincent Gallo's The Brown Bunny as being the most deliciously scathing review I have ever read, ever. It was beautiful. His passion for movies will be so sadly missed by his readers.
