For less than 400, you could get 5 star. Certainly I'd advise 4 star in Paris.

I haven't been but (I work in the travel industry) I've heard that the Concorde Montparnasse & Villa Royale are great.

I stayed in the Carlton's Hotel in Novemeber, and it was simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in in Paris. It is located between Pigalle and Anvers. The room size's were huge and the view's from the room were brilliant. I booked it through yeego.com and it cost €236 for 3 nights.

This is the review on left on the booking site:

I stayed in this hotel with my grandmother for 3 nights in November 2009. It was simply fantastic. Having been used to staying in small bedrooms in Paris, this room was amazing. There was plenty of space to walk all around the room, a balcony which faced onto the sacre couer, tea and coffee making facilites in the room, a safe, and a huge bathroom. The breakfast in the moring was plentiful. Even though it was continental breakfast there was also hot sausages and eggs on offer. The hotel staff are very nice. Check-in and check-out where both very fast and straightforward. All the staff on the front desk spoke perfect English. There was also a bar in the hotel. On the ninth floor of the hotel there is a Roof Terrace where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city. There are plenty of tables and chairs where you can order drinks. Also from the seventh floor, there are beautiful views of the Eifel Tower at night. There are two lifts in the hotel, one small lift and one huge lift. The hotel was situated between two metro stops, Pigalle and Anvers. It was only a two/three minute walk to each. There was also a supermarket a couple of doors up from the hotel. It was the best hotel I have stayed in in Paris. I will definitley be back.

Just popped in your dates there now and it €247.50 on yeego including breakfast, or €415 for a standard room on booking.com

    Hi,

Have you thought about renting an apartment in Paris? I always find that it's much more convenient having my own space when I travel. If you look up craigslist, they have lots of ads for short term rentals. Here's a link to one I found:
