As another of the seeming many whose car batteries failed due to icy weather I had to call out a repairman to start my car. I want to be more independent and not get stuck again and want to purchase a power pack similar to the one at

    http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-VEC012CBD-Starter-Inflator/dp/B000EJV5N8t

Any feedback or suggestions as to the featured one or others would be received with sincere thanks. I am not very knowledgeable about cars but this got a good review on amazon

Get yourself a decent battery & you won't need one of those.

    Cheers, ;)

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    Welcome to boards, iamskippy :)

Your link doesn't work unfortunately, but a powerpack is handy to have. Aldi / Lidl do them regularly for about €40 and Maplins regularly have fairly decent ones half price. Also check out argos and even halfords for offers.

That said, if your battery failed just because of the cold weather, it is on the way out. Replace it and avoid future head ache :)

Agreed if you're battery needs to be Jumpstarted alot just invest in a new one its cheaper in the long run than buying a powerpack about €60/70

    Jumpleads would be cheaper

The times Ive tried to use the Booster Packs I found they didnt have enough juice to make any difference. They give you around one attempt and if it fails, SOL. A mains powered trickle charger is a much better investment, new or old battery, its handy to have.
