Hi guys, I am doing a bit of drop shipping. I am selling an apple iphone on ebay and I have sold one so far. The guy that I sold it to only registered yesterday and I received an email off him. I think its a con because his English isn't the greatest and obviously because he only registered yesterday. I will attach email below, can someone advice? He has also payed for the phone via paypal, with insurance and shipping too.

    Hello seller,
It's my pleasure to inform you that your item which i bought off ebay has been paid for with paypal....... the payment has been made including the shipment cost plus insurance which amount to €40.00 EUR.
Please you can use any courier service/post office that is safe and convenient for you.
I'm buying this item for my husband who is presently working Abroad on assignment with WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION (WHO) i'm buying it for him just because his phone carrier(CDMA VERIZON) is not available/supported in his present location (africa)and he needs to make call so he wants me to send a new phone to him for use,the phone is also a season gift for him. please he needs this phone urgently and i will like you to make the shipment to his present address written Below.
I have already informed him and he is looking forward to it,so i would like you to ship it directly to him inorder to avoid double shipping thereby reducing shipping cost and waste of time if i will have to re-ship the item again from my location (USA)
Below is the address for the shipping.....
    NAME.......PATRICK JOHN
    ADDRESS....75,ADEBIYI STREET SOMOLU
    LAGOS STATE
    NIGERIA 23401

Please as soon as the payment has been sent to you from paypal, i will like you to get the item ship as soon as possible and get to me so that i can know what to do about this and if you know that this item is not exactly what you described in the listing let me know right now so that i can cancel this transaction and withdraw my money back from paypal, cos you will not like me to go to extent of giving you negative feedback which can give you a bad image on ebay market.thank you
    Many Thanks and God bless,
    Doris

Hey Dufff-Man, i would be certain that you are about to be scammed by this Nigerian person.

Have you recieved your paypal invoice through an email? More than likely its fake,
Did you check your paypal account? The payment should be automatic into your account from this buyer.

    SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM

Report to Ebay straight away and DO NOT send the the item..

Thanks for the advice. I have just reported it to ebay there. I thought it was a scam alright. Hopefully I will have better luck next time.

No problem had it happen to me twice with a laptop, pretty annoying but i will say that you should sort out your preferences in Ebay to tighten up who can bid or buy any of your items that you have for sale.

    My Ebay>Account>Site Preferences>Buyer Requirements>Show>Edit

and you can sort out your account preferences there. for e.g i have mine set at

    Block buyers who

1: Dont have a Paypal account.
    2: Recieved 1 or 2 unpaid strikes.
3:Feedback score of 5 or less.
4: No credit card on file.

For 2 and 3 i'll leave a note at the end of my listing stating that if you have just joined Ebay or have low feedback to contact me first if your genuinely interested in my item.

Hopefully this helps you out in the future with securing yourself from the scammers on Ebay.

Duffman smells a scam, oooooh yeaaaaah!

    I'll get me coat.

Anyway, definite scam, complete with sob story about husband living abroad, and mention of reputable company/organisation to lend credibility to the story. If that wasn't enough; Nigeria, instant scam.

Glad to see the whole email posted by Duffff-Man anyone who isn't sure about an email should google bits of the text, the amounts items and addresses change but most of the scams reuse the text each time.

Googling the text I came up with this thread (on another site) in post #7 goes on to detail the whole scam and subsequent emails you get to try and get you to send the item.
