    Hi

I'm in co derry and have got at technika 19 in lcd from tesco with built in freeview, usb record etc.
I've done an auto scan and got all the channels, however, the rte1,net2,tv3 and tg4 are sound only, no picture.
I've read up a bit on this and read about irisih channels being MPEG4 and uk stuff MPEG2, am I right?
Can I do anything to this box to receive irish channels. Its confusing as my existing tv in another room has all channels and the the one aerial does both rooms.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious so hopefully someone will help

    Thanks

    Joe

You are right, Ireland are on MPEG-4.
If you tv has a CAM slot, there are cams to convert mpeg4 to mpeg2.
Other wise u need another box............

UK are testing mpeg4 in London (for roll out across the UK) now so new boxes will soon be on sale in Asda-Argos and the others with both MPEG2 and 4.

No idea what a cam slot is but I'll look it up and see what I find.

    Thanks

CAM slot is a PMCIA slot that you find in a PC laptop. It can take a module that allows cards for pay TV. Netion, a French company have brought out a module that allows MPEG4 conversion to MPEG2. It works on some TVs but not all.

    See the stickie above.

Ok thanks. I have previously fitted a PCMCIA to a laptop to make it wireless enabled, so I'll check my tv tonight for a similar slot.

    Thanks

Anyone know which cam would work on the technika tv.

Does the set only receive digital signal? Would like to be able to see rtr etc.

    Thanks

If you can take it back, do. Buy a MPEG4 version. Look on the stickie thread for one. It is worth it.

No that has a UHF analogue tuner too according to google. You should be able to receive the analogue from Hollywell. Channels 23, 26, 29 and 33. It should ask you do you want to scan analogue channels on the start up initial scan.

Neotion is the only manufacturer of MPEG4 cams.

I'll have another look at the booklet and setup to see if I can scan analogue channels. Thanks to all so far.
