I mean what are the roads like.

    They look frozen.

think the roads are safer than the footpaths, if you have a slant on the driveway its doubtful you will get the car out without a bit of work involved

    They are fine atm.

Will freeze up soon after dark though.

Keep safe during cold spell all.

The main roads are ok but side and estate roads are like glass in places. Road at Tescos is really bad as you come up the hill out of Hillside/Heathervue estates.

Yep it's the same in Charlesland, hasn't thawed out all day. Main roads appear to be ok but the estate roads and other minor roads are pretty hazardous, foot paths are also very slippy.

Night time will be the worst time to be out as you won't see the ice patches before it's too late.

Also, people living in the estates up around the main oval. Please slow the down well before you come to the main Superquinn roundabout. Saw a chap nearly get knocked down there today because a lady failed to slow down and just ploughed straight on through without any attempt to slow her vehicle.

The speed that some approach that busy roundabout is madness.
Now is really not a good time of year to go out relying your ABS brakes to stop you

Was out beyond Ashbourne today, the non national routes out there are a disaster, but I got to be Tommi Makinnen for a while!

Coming back this evening around 7, the N11 was being gritted, however the SAR wasn't done. The temp now is 0.6C and there is black ice on all of the roundabouts...

A lot of good threads over on the weather forum, including one on the state of the nation's roads. Looks like the frozen roads are going to be with us for a while yet.

Met the gritter this morning at Charlesland roundabout at 6am. Roads down there were awful. Up to the N11 were ok as were the M50. Saw about 4 gritters all in all.
