Complaining about teammates taking airdrops....

I don't know if anyone has spoken about this before but seriously, what is it with Americans complaining about teammates taking their crates from airdrops?! So far I've only come across Americans complaining about this, but I mean it's not like they were in a mad rush to get it, considering it takes just as much time for teamates to take em as enemies, and would you not rather it be taken for your team than letting the opposing team get an upper hand? Personally I don't really care if someone on my team takes a crate, it gives me more XP on top of calling it in and prevents the other team from getting an extra bonus. Anyone here think it's "Unsporting" of teammates taking crates when you're not beside it or would you rather lose it to the enemy rather than your teammates?

never happened to me(have been flattened by own crate though:o).Dont mind other players taking it better your own team than the others.

Haha I've been flattened by my crates too, also flattened a couple teammates who happened to have the misfortune of spawning into it! But consider yourself lucky, it's SO irritating listening to little whiny American kids moan at you for taking their crate despite their being killed before taking em.

Seen that happening once. You could imagine your team mate going WTF??after he just respawned and gets crushed.

Way I see it if your tick enough to get killed by where you place the drop to be you deserve to get it takin.

Mind you dont think i use it as a kilstreak reward much anymore

Yeah exactly, although I still use the care package as I'm not that good for the higher killstreaks lol but I'm happy enough with the Care Package, Predator and Harrier Strike. Although I have the Sentry Gun equipped until I call in the 50 for the challenge completion and then I can go back :D

It drives me feckin crazy. Only today called in a crate , about 4 idiots immediately ran over to it, trying to take it. Of course with the knobs around me I couldn't see the guy from the other team run up, cause they all blocked my vision, and of course I was the first to get killed, while some little prick managed to get a gunner chopper.

In fairness, if you're killed while going for a crate, you're not looking around you, you're paying attention to the crate. And if they were blocking your vision, then he would have been coming toward you, and if you were first killed, it must have been from behind. And also, it's better for your teammates to get the crate as opposed to the chap who killed you.

Me and my mate generally team up and chat over skype. With no video, it's really light on bandwidth.

If either of us has to call in a crate or predator we generally cover each other. If its a case where I can't get away to claim my own crate, e.g. in Skidrow, if covering the tunnel thingy, i generally lob it out the window to him, he'd be covering the top floor of one of the buildings (Not the one with the Gatling, the one across from it).

Once an airdrop saved my ass, enemy closing in on me after I'd called it. Was a one in a million that he'd get splattered by it on the way down!

I remember getting killed by an enemy who was bunnyhopping (hate it:( ) I respawned and ran up behind him while he was at his care package, I knifed him, then took it for myself :D

would you not use the chat feature if your only talking to one person

I hate those robbing teamamte fúckers who take your crate.
I'll always defend the crate (enemies will always run to it ) and give the guy a chance to get it back...
If after about 30 secs he hasn't I'll take it rather than risk losing it.
But some team mates will immediately try to take it...****in assholes..

If I absolutely cannot for the life of me make it to the crate in time due to being killed on the way, I'll commend my teammates for taking the crate for me. Better we have it than the enemy.

However, this isn't the case when Emergency Airdrop is turned on. Everyone in the game, regardless of team, is like a ****ing vulture going for the 4 crates. Just have to set my eye on the best one to pick it up first. I don't mind if Joe Soap over there wants to take my Counter-UAV.

the worst is in hardcore, teammates who knife you then steal your crate.

only use the care package on search and destroy its great for baiting enemy players :)

Called in a care package where my team was respawnin. Killed 2 team mates. Mucho funny. Total accident tho. I bet they were p1ssed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭Jet Black

I always wait until I die before calling it in. Its usually means the enemy would be further away so less likely of being killed.

Dont really mind anyone on the team taking it. I dont have a mic so if anyone on my team is pissed from me taking theirs I would not know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 370 ✭✭craze7

I always give them a way, the amount of emergency air drops i've givin away is unreal!

I love throwing them out the windows to snipers on estate, because i always hold the house down with claymores and shotguns!!! ☺

I hate those stupid crates. Pisses me off when some scrub gets chopper gunner from them, very annoying. They should be limited to you getting a killstreak of 8, you shouldn't be able to get things like chopper gunner from them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 52 ✭✭Do Wan

in fairness though , it only takes the person who called in the crate over a second to capture it, it takes the thieving bolloxes about 4 seconds,so even when you see your supposed team-mates rush over to you all giddy, you should always be the one who takes it

I dont like people waiting to take them off you instead of playing while your there waiting for it to arrive,
Alot of the time I find that its impossible to bait enemies with one because your 'teammates' decide that it would be too hard to obtain their own air-drop,
That said I have no problem if a teammate takes a crate if Im killed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 513 ✭✭✭Onearmedbandit

I don't mind a team mate getting the crate if I have been killed and I have taken a fallen team mate's crate as well in the past (usually after I have killed the enemy who got them).

The previous posters are right that if you are dropping your crate in a dodgy area you deserved to get killed.

I like to use mine to ambush but it will only work for 1-3 kills before a dick on your own team tries to get it.

Yep if i get killed before i get a crate i have no problem with a team mate taking it, just do be annoyed(with myself) if its an AC130 or chopper gunner, better a team mate than the other team.

In the case of people attempting to take your Care Package after your death, that's fine IMO - as nearly everyone has already said, far better that your own team recover it than let it fall into enemy hands (although, stealing an enemy Stealth Bomber is really satisfying).
I'll always defend the crate (enemies will always run to it ) and give the guy a chance to get it back...
I wish I could say I'm honourable enough to do that :P With all those guys running around toting under-barrel Grenade Launchers () and, occasionally, RPG-7's, hanging around trying to protect the Care Package is just going to get me killed.

In the case of people attempting to take your Care Package while you're still alive and going to grab it, those idiots annoy me - do they really expect to be able to capture the package before you (especially since you capture it 3 or 4 times faster than they do). I just wish they would sod off and get the 3 or 4 kills themselves >.>

i flash bang my team mates who drops a crate good fun,

If you actually do this, then you are an ass.

To the OP, I've one question.

Do you take a crate on someone who is there waiting on it themselves, or just if they have been killed etc?

If the second, then no problem at all. As you say, better you than the enemy. But if you are stealing their crates by running to it quicker than the person who actually used skill to get their killstreak, then I'd be complaining about you too. I'd also probably file a complaint and blocking playing with you again. I hated this when I used to call them in. Only thing worse is the dicks who kill you to take it.

I don't bother calling in crates anymore, cause I find the Pred, Harrier and Chopppe the best combo. But I always run past them if someone else is there waiting. I'll also usually try to defend them for the two seconds it takes.

How ****, that would be enough for me to quit the game right there and then

I got an emergency airdrop in a free for all on Estate yesterday , i managed to get a harrier airstrike over my 3 remaining packages then preceeded to Snipe anybody who went near them allowing me to comfortably get my 30 kills , was quite funny as everybody wanted a piece!

I think using a single Care package is a waste of a killstreak , the amount of times you get ammo/uav/counter uav is sick, i think hanging on for a predator missile is more rewarding

i just got my best game there . 36-3 on submarine and all thansk to my killstreak set up. predator-harrier - chopper gunner
i aint ever going back to care packages

Had that happen to me a few times today.

So wished i could friendly fire the SOB.

Although having read some thoughts here i might switch out care packages.

I stopped using care packages because of team mates stealing them. I've had pave lows and chopper gunners stolen on me before and it really pisses me off  Now it's just easier to earn the dam thing instead of just being a big target going for a crate :p

i love taking enemies crates, got an AC130 from one before, im sure the person who it was supposed to be wasnt happy about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,692 ✭✭✭shawpower

I don't usually bother with Care Packages as anything good you get out of them doesn't count towards your kill streaks. I'd sooner wait till Pred and get a kill or two and use that to get to Harrier strike etc.

ha anyone like using crates as bait ? ie setting up a claymore near one or switching out to a light machine gun and watch as your enemies sprint over towards the "un-guarded" crates

I'd only do that if it was something I didn't want like a counter UAV or ammo. But you'll always get team-mates taking it before the enemy so it doesn't really work unfortunately :(

Agreed, If i die before i get it I prefer a team mate to get it, generally I like to provide cover if a team mate is picking one up.

Its always a pain down when you get Chopper Gunner/Ac130 as the care package and then get killed just before you get it and someone else gets it!

OFC they give out how would you like it if you got a nuke and then got killed before you used it, and they guy who killed you got to use your nuke instead???? People have get kills before they get the packages so they deserve to use and not have some teammate stealing their stuff. Its diff with ammo though, i used use packages and if i got a ammo i would leave it there for my team unless i needed it myself!!

Anyway should this not be under the megabitch thread?

well in fairness you can capture you own crates faster than anyone else so unless ya can nearly always get it..Hate the way it comes up they "saved your crate from the enemy" though..no they didnt they robbed it :P

It's older than that thread. So it'd need a merge.

Re the blocking, you can just submit a player review, and select to Avoid the player. Given the numbers playing, it probably isn't much use.

If the guy calling it in is alive, I'll cover him, if he's shot then I reckon it's fair game, as I said, better us than the enemy. Sorry about the SUPER late reply, only after checking back on this thread. I fail.

You win as a team you lose as a team, thats the logic behind any team based game, so who cares whether some of your team mates take your care packages or you get them yourself as long as it contributes to a win.

If I see a care package lying around I have no problem taking it, whether it belongs to a team mate or enemy.
