Pittoni's win in Punchestown maiden

Anyone see his race? Pittoni dossed his way down the back straight and bolted up the finishing straight past tiring horses without the rider encouraging or hitting him. For the best part of the race it looked like he was just out for the run and not off. Wonder if C Byrnes was setting him up for one of his trademark gambles next time out and wasn't meant to win today?

Completely unwanted win as the money wasn't down-not a penny of stable money down I'd say and maybe 2 or 3 more runs before it would be.

The jockey wasn't doing a toss with the race at his mercy and his horse staying on through them.

The trainer was'nt impressed I'd say:)

I was at the races with a mate and we spotted him coming out of the back straight. He tried his best to slow him down after the last, going up the inside and hoping the two Hennessey horses would move onto the rails but it didn't happen. So we followed him in. Steward ran by us saying "great ride" and roared it out to the jock. Jock didn't break out into a smile so we knew we needed to head for the winners enclosure (Solwhit and Tom Doyle in mind). Not a word from trainer to jockey. Trainer eyes to the heavens. Jock went off and Byrnes turned to the press, shrugged his shoulders and went for the presentation!! Classic stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised, I thought it looked a bit dodgy the way that carberry rode him, the horse won the race himself, he had so much in hand, I'd say carberry was hoping for a good stumble at the last or something. If there was no stable money down, word must have got out that the horse was a bit special, it would in from 6/5 in the morning to 1/2 sp, some serious money being put down somewhere.
