    Hey

Looking to drive from Ireland to Malaga in mid July, returning two weeks later.

Spending two or three days on the journey and most importantly doing it as cheap as possible. There will be three of us in the car.

I looked at irish ferries rosslare to cherebourg route but it was coming out as just under €1000 return for the three of us which is just too expensive.

Anybody got any recommendations or tips on getting it any cheaper? Anybody done the whole england-chunnel route or is it expensive due to it being out of the way?

    Thanks in advance.

edit: Looks like it will be a lot cheaper to fly straight to Malaga and rent a car out there for a few days.... Further Q, do car rental prices increase the closer to the date it is? If I look to get one on a day by day basis would companies offer discounts etc?

You are travelling peak season so the prices are going to be high. I went with LD lines last July and it was around €800 for two of us in a cabin to La Harve. I can't see you getting it much cheaper than that but you can check and see if you can just book a seat instead of a cabin, it didn't look very comfortable though.

The fly & rent option would probably work out better value with the added bonus of having more days in Spain without travelling.

Check out sites like www.skyscanner.net to price flights. Get creative and try for flights out of the UK which might be cheaper even with a flight from Ireland tacked on.
