For those who are dodging the elements tonight, take note.

Jools Holland is joined for his 17th annual Hootenanny by a stunning mix of artists: Sir Tom Jones, Boy George, Florence and the Machine, Dizzee Rascal, Kasabian and more.

A quick review of midnight TV shows this as the best option. Unless your a fan of The All Ireland Talent Show that is.

The fact that I know it's not live ruins it for me though.

Florence and the Machine is worth a watch mind!

Fr. Ted with his mate Paul made me laugh out loud!

    wouldn't know

In fairness, Tom Jones, Paolo Nuitini, Florence + The Machine, and Kasabian, and Magic up there thinks it's a crappy line up, hmmm, me thinks he's been on the funny stuff :p

I agree, RTE's new years was really disgraceful, really enjoy Jools though! And on BBC1 we had the fireworks. ****ing disgrace there wasn't anything on RTE.

The only words Dizzee knows of Smells Like teen Spirit is "Hello, Hello, Hello"!

What a dose the show is. I suppose Tom Jones is next up...again.

Can't believe he actually played that music as the backtrack of his shítty attempt at rrap. I mean. That's blasphemy if eber there was blaspehmy.

I'm enjoying the show a lot. Al Murray making a tit of himself made the night for me.

Poor line up. Too many upstarts and not enough old hands.

Florence was good. Even though I don't care for rap I cringed when all the selebs were name checking dizzee rascal.

I really enjoyed the Hootenanny now, apart from the chatty bits of course but they weren't long enough to taint it. Some great performances. Florence was fantastic, as was Paolo Nutini and Kasabian. I'd normally never pay attention to Dizzie Rascal but he did a good live show. Which was the name of the game tonight. Boy George makes me laugh, the cut of him like. Still he wrote a few good tunes in his day so can't be too critical of him. I couldn't care less for Tom Jones, or his namesake Kelly. Roderigo y Gabriela very talented but a touch one dimensional.

Great entertainment on the whole, nice way to bring in 2010.

Yeah? Hearing balding middle aged white men do the i'm friends with the hip black rapper joke never fails to raise a smile with me.

Second only to Jonathan Ross doing the "yo yo yo" when interviewing rappers. Funny ****.

can it me measured with numbers how much better this show is than whatever RTE have on any given new year?

I liked dizee rascal, and Rodrigo y Gabriella & Paolo Nunti as I hadnt ever heard them live before. Boy George lack of talent is considerable & I think Florence's shouty man vocals dont play well to a small stage like this.

    very enjoyable show though

I don't think it was a great line-up compared to previous years but I enjoyed it all the same. I thought Dizzie Rascal was quite good and I normally hate that kind of music. At least he was up-tempo:D

Twas a slight bit of a disappointing show compared to some of the other years alright.

I personally thought Dizzee Rascal was ok, as was Paolo Nuttini.

The real highlight was Ruby Turner singing "this train" though.

Bring back sea sick steve next year.... :pac:
