    Live or dead?

    Alive ........... dead ones don't run ............ there is a darker side to people requiring live rabbits (& hares) :mad: not inferring that the OP requires them for those reasons.

    Last I heard in my area live wild rabbits go for €10 each and live hares go for €70 each, and yes I know hares are protected ...............

    Your mate needs them for the "kill"? While I don't think this is 100% legal, I also don't have a problem with it at all. I witnessed a few "kills" to train grey hounds, and I see no cruelty in it whatsoever. This said, it all depends on the trainer, and how he taunts the dogs. OP, I wouldn't broadcast this too much, could get you or your mate in a little trouble I suspect. Whatever about aquiring live rabits, I suggest you stay well clear of aquiring live hares... ;)

    No one said anything here about killing rabbits, lots of gundog men and women use them in a large pen to steady hunting dogs and train young dogs to be steady.

    Get someone who has ferrets, go somewhere that has lots of rabbit holes. Net up the holes and send the ferrets in! Went out once doing this. Bloke who owned the ferrets, told me to cover some of the rabbit holes, and to pick up any ferret I seen coming out of the holes. Standing waiting, then ferret came out of one of the holes. I reached down grabed him, then he grabed me!!

    Ferret hanging out of my hand, trying to shake him off. He dropped off and went down the hole again. Leaving me with 4 fang marks on my hand:(

    I didnt go next time I was asked to go ferreting :D

    i would go with that idea, you should pick up a good ferret in or around €20 - €35 just get a few purse nets and your in business.

    ( c ) the addition to paragraph (b) of subsection (3) of "and a captive animal shall not be deemed to be coursed or hunted within the meaning of this subsection if it is coursed or hunted in an enclosed space from which it has no reasonable chance of escape";
    ( d ) the insertion in subsection (3) after paragraph (b) of the following paragraph:—
    "( c ) to the commission or omission of any act in the course of the coursing, hunting, pursuit, capture or destruction or attempted destruction of any wild animal unless such commission or omission is accompanied by or involves the infliction of unnecessary suffering.".

    Yeah, I think that's enough of that. Bunny-whacking for the pot's one thing, this is something lower entirely. Thread closed.
