Over on boards.ie motorbike forum, several bikers have posted how they were banned off a certain other motorbike forum ( it's not part of boards.ie or anything ), one because he was a mod. on a different forum. They received pm/email stating they could have their accounts restored if they made a donation to the forum. Is this legal ? If it is not legal, who could they report this to ?

BTW, this other particuliar froum has a reputation for racism, sexism etc

    Hi McArmalite

You say boards.ie motorbike forum in your reference to the forum your discussing. This is confusing and there are alot of motorbike forums out there.

Would you agree that it is an irish motorbike site?

As this would be a start for determining with whom to report this and whether you have strayed into a closed club motorcycle gang that expect you to serve an apprenticship and undergo a initiation involving a fist fight with another gang that is later followed by a loss of any virginity.

From my experience with motorbike forums they are are very unlike boards.ie but are like boards.ie afterhours/thunderdrome rules. They allow people to speak more freely and openly. Im my experience they are more much more fun and mainstream and when it comes to motorbike and engine problems they are great but of course if you like talking about your car then its not really a nice place to visit.

A good experience for many and a bad for some. Not unlike boards.ie but from the opposite spectrum.

I can only imagine that closed club motorcycle site might say that as with any chat forum you might have users that do not have the commitment or cause nuisance which in turn causes overheads in the form of moderation etc and perhaps they are forcing the problem parties to compensate for their nuisance by an amount equal to a subscription fee.

One might say extortion is better than kissing ass although the more popular biker forums have their own forms of revenue and i wouldnt expect them to have to shake people up for subscriptions. Are you sure this isnt some Motorbike gang forum where you have to serve and apprentice before being allowed membership etc...

    Actually McArmalite

If you really wanted to discuss the legality of such a measure then you wouldn't have brought the motorbike forum into this discussion.

I was curious and checked the motorbike forum and found the thread your have mentioned. It appears that only one user posted about being banned and asked to pay a donation. I looked and cannot find anymore. Are you making this entire thing up?

In fact the thread your coming from was made concerning the fact the bike site in question was not accepting any more members.

Due to an increased spamming issues on the forum, we are no longer accepting registrations from certain IP's and ANY hotmail email account, we apologise for the inconvienience.

The thread was locked by eoin when you came on and began to slag the biker site and its members. So much for racism and sexism. i believe you reffered to them as...
    Exactly,
    biker.ie
has a little click of d!ckheads who like to think their some sort of Outlaw bikers Sad little click led by a middle class a$$hole called Iano. Anyway, what's wrong with this forum ? IBF (
    IrishBikerForum.com
) is good, well moderated, but come on lads, give this forum a vote

Sounds like someone should pay us all a donation for time wasting McArmalite.
