This story has been on the Guardian website for at least 3 hours but there is nothing to be seen on RTE or Irish Times Websites. Are they ignoring it on purpose for some reason or is it just that everyone is off on new years eve?

Well I don't believe they're on holiday, but I can't see a reason why they would ignore it...

    Good point made though

RTE have never been the quickest at gettings news stories up.
But they don't seem to want to be fast either.
    They're not a 24hour news channel.
The Irish Times and RTE seem to like to take things slowly.

Is it reliable? The Guardian seem to be the only ones in UK or Ireland that are running the story. Also, this story casts doubt over the report:

I guess everyone is waiting for PSNI confirmation, while the Guardian have run the story regardless.

That's interesting. However, the Times for one won't be published tomorrow, so I'd imagine there are very few people in the newsroom right now. Breakingnews.ie had the story at 7.30am.

Just on a point of banality with the Gaurdian piece - I don't think that this is the biggest bomb ever in the north...the Bessbrook bombing in 1979 was at least 1000lb too.

I was just wondering were they asked not to publish to aid in the investigation and the Guardian 'published and be damned'
On the largest bomb issue, I noticed that myself, but it does say largest bomb by Dissident Republicans

Fianna Fail's peace process must not be seen to be a failure. It is the only legacy they can cling to.
