Just seen this movie, writen and directed by frist timer Regina Crosby (who also had a supporting role in the movie). This is rather teen angsty boy-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-track meets preppy high school cheerleader from a nice middle class home.

Now take away notions of Hollywood and set that premise in Idaho, it's not all palm tress and BMW's parked outside the school. The basic premise is nothing new per se, it's just characterised different, he's from a broken home, his dad beats him, his brother is sexually abusing his siter.

She's pretty and popular, cheerleader and uses daddy's boat at the weekend. the diiference really is the medium used to bring thtese two polar opposites together, they are in the same creative writing class and the writer/director uses creative writing as a means to tell their story.

He uses creative writing to express his feelings, one thing i liked about the movie was the use of a notebook and the two writing notes to each other...very high school and real.

The tone of the movie is quite sombre, it's unrequited love, on her part. As toward the end she rejects him and goes back to her clique, he attempts suicide which he does by taking tabs in class in front of her, all very dramatic. It gets a bot confusig toward the end as the director uses flashbacks and flashforwards.

it's an interesting little movie for a first timer, while the basic premise is nothing new the uses of creative writing and script hold it up enough for 105 mins, the directpr also takes her time to tell the story, the first 40 mins are rather slow.

While i appreciate she took her time she could have got to things a bit quicker, the acting from `Greek` star Scott Michael Foster was very good...don't expect to see Cappie!, the lead actress playing Amber wasn't too bad either.

It's fairly low budget, it's a movie you'll either like or hate.
