Just got a psp 3000 slim.
I have GT and Assasins creed.
It seems that you can do feck all without a memory card.
    I can't even update software.
So I have an 8gig on the way.

    Ok a few questions,
Can someone explain adhoc to me in English?
Do I need to know other people with psps to play games with them?
Or can I just join online game lists like the ps3?

I know I will need to mess around a bit just to get mp4s to work but will mp3s work direct once on the card?

I have mine working online (just the Internet browser as I have no memory card yet) but I see some people set theirs up specificly, psp sticky, is there any advantage to this.

    Any must have games?

I have tones more questions but I'll leave it at that for now.

Im open to correction but i think Adhoc is just playing against people in the same room/location through wireless. Think you can play online aswell but im not sure ive never done this.

MP3's should work but you have to save them to the correct folder same with mp4's (google will help here the folder has a weired name)

    1. Adhoc is just a wireless connection between 2 psps. You usually use it for 1 to 1 multiplayer games. You have to be within 50ft of eachother though.

    2. It depends on the game, some is infrastructure where its like the PS3 and some work adhoc which needs other people with PSPs.

    3. MP3s work directly on the card, just put them into the music folder (Create one if its not there)

    Must have games imo....

Metal Gear solid portable ops+ - Probably one of the best PSP games
Gran Turismo - You have it already
GTA: Chinatown Wars - This game is even better than GTA 4
Tekken 5 - Tekken on the PSP is/was great about 2 years ago

Thats good, and bad.... Cant beleive that Gran Turismo only has Adhoc racing!!! Would have been simple to have infrastructure.
Not a fan of metal gear solid, sorry.
Ive played GTA 4 and liked it but is china toen really better? the graphics look s$*7e

Until I get a decent memory card I can do FECK ALL.
no skype, no updates, no saving progress on games its in the post though.

Im thinking the first buy is going to be Resistance, looks decent online.
I havent played any of the resistance games but i think ill buy them all cos the reviews are great.

Thats good about the mp3s at least.

    Thanks a million, John.

I read somewhere that if you have a ps3 you can use that to play ad-hoc games over internet....you need to have the PS3 hardwired into the internet and use the wireless of the ps3 to connect up to the PSP

"The PSP to PSP ad hoc connection is replaced by a PSP to PS3 ad hoc connection to allow online gaming on a global scale through the PlayStation Network enabled PlayStation 3. It allows advanced online multiplayer functions on the PlayStation Portable such as voice chat using the PlayStation 3 official bluetooth headset or the PlayStation Eye webcam's microphone. Text chat, known as "lobby chat", is also possible within public ("Free") rooms and private ("Password") rooms[5][6]. The PlayStation 3 official Wireless Keypad is also supported, however, users must press the Enter key to begin typing."

Beware of any shooters on the PSP, the control scheme is usually pretty crap. There are some good ones but most are unbelievably crap. MGS is probably the only good shooter that I've played on the PSP but you don't like that.
The graphics in Chinatown are just like the graphics in the original GTA. 2D and pretty undetailed. Doesn't make a bit of difference. The game is unbelievably good just like the original GTA.
