Changing iPhone Root password

Hi Guys. I've a freshly jailbroken iPhone 3Gs and am now trying to change the root password.

It looks like you need to install mobileterminal first? The thing is that I cant seem to install this either on Cydia or Rock. On Cydia for example I get a 'Cannot Locate Package' error. AFAIK the source is correct, is the repository down?

Is there any other package which can be used to easily change the root password? Are there any other security precautions which one should take after jailbreaking?

    Any Help would be appreciated.

if you download 'mplayer' in cydia or rock, it will also install a terminal program as far as i can remember

I cant seem to find a terminal in Mplayer, unless I'm doing something stupid? Are there any other sources for MobileTerminal, I've googled a few but cydia just says 'cant find repository' when I try to add them in.

The reposoitory does not seem to be done , I am not getting any errors from Cydia on start up .
Try and manually enter the following source and package.
I am sure this source is auto installed when Cydia 1st starts ? but no harm in trying...

    Source : http://apt.saurik.com
    Package : mobileterminal

    Hope this helps ..

Ok I just went into Cydia again and all packages were available, so I got it :). Thanks for all your help.

Is there anything else which I should do after jailbreak to make my iPhone more secure? I'm new to this jailbreaking banter

I got " lockdown" app ... It let's me password protect any feature or app on my phone .
Eg . I have the following locked down , if I loose my phone it's useless to the finder ...

    Phone
    mail
    settings
    facebook app
    SMS
    etc etc

also if you are going to ssh into your phone , change the default password from "alpine"
