Has anybody had experience of Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression (Shoulder Surgery) and what are the benefits / results positive or negative. Would appreciate any feedback before I seriously consider this as a solution to my ongoing issues.

Have you discussed this with your doctor or a specialist?

Yes, had some steroid treatment which worked on one side but they have suggested surgery on the other. I have read mixed reviews on the results and was just wondering if anybody had been through it and whether the results were successful or otherwise.

Hi there, had seen your thread when I was searching for reviews of ASD prior to going through with the operation and thought that I'd reply to you once I had gone through it, since noone else had.

Anyway, last Tuesday I went for the operation in the Santry Sports Surgery clinic. Prior to this I only had a 90 degree movement in my right arm as a result of completly shattering the head of the humerous. Straight away after the surgery I can notice that I have had a huge improvement in the range of movement in my arm - maybe even to 150 degrees already but it is hard to tell as I have to be careful with the stitches.

I had heard horror stories of this operation, but I am so glad I had it done. Obviously when I go back to physio, in about 10 days, they will tell me how much more movement I got so far, and how much I can expect to see in the coming rehab period. Will keep you posted. Hope this helps
