Can anyone give a brief description of wtf is going on with the show?

I never got into it before and attempts at tuning in have failed miserably.

I would like to enjoy the last series

    Thanks a mil

+1 for this. Every time I tune in I just don't get what it's about? At first I thought it was about getting stranded on an island and now apparently it's time travel.... Wtf!

Yeah it's far too vast to sum up in a succint manner. Those of us who have seen every episode can only hypothesize on what the show is primarily about. All we can know for sure are certain re-occurring themes such as the time-travel element, free will vs fate and so on.

Your best bet is to go and watch the first series of the show which many rate as the best. If you're hooked by that stage you'll want to give season 2 a look. If you're still invested by that stage you'll probably want to watch the rest before the new season. I'd say it's a tall order to get into it all at this point but I re-watched most of season 5 today so I'd say it can be done. You'd want to be pretty determined though.

You'd have to watch it from the start.

There are ways of getting all them online but can't say where.

Plane crashes, people survive, others come, people dissapear, weird **** happens, boat comes, bad guys kill loads of people, some of them leave, then they come back.

There you go, 5 seasons for you.

lost in my personal opinion is probably one of the best shows in tv history, its not hugh CGI effect (as a matter of fact the CGI is pathetic), is a very solid story, it encompases a big cast of caracters with vast backgrounds that are reviewed in great detail, at first its hard to understand the meaning of the series, it not really untill series 4 or 5 that you will understand what the purpose of this series is, but thats the great thing about this show,

you will either love it, or hate the hell out of it, if you like making up you own stories to what happened, with multiple interpredations to any given story line, you will love the hell out this series,

So anyone got any hunches on how it will come together or what the commonality is running through the programme?

Lad, there is no quick or easy explanation to what has happened so far.
Likewise there is no one answer to all the mysteries.
I would say(or rather hope) most of season 6 will be tieing up and answering the questions.
The whole story is so interconnected thea no one episode will really tell you much,

I have the first 5 series on DVD if anyone want to borrow them..
6 days to go..(Providing your not waiting for it to be shown here if so its 8 days LOL)

Loved that Hurley scene. He just speaks for the viewers all the time.

    Depends on how brief.
There are some good Youtube vids that recap on season 1-5 in 8 or so mins. Brief doesn't do the show justice though....
