Started pretty badly and ended quite a bit better, im hoping that the up-swing will continue into the next decade :)

Started out ok and had its ups and downs, should end ok as well.

Next decade should be good, once I take care of some things first.

A normal year. Bad year for deaths in the family - lost 1 Great Auntie and two Great Uncles both on the same side of the family.

Decent year in every other way though. Had a lovely little cousin born and started my last year of school. And probably the best holiday of my (short) life :)

You have one day to take care of those things. Hope they're not too big:o

started out bad-got worse as the year went on. Ended up shocking. Can't wait for it to be over. Onwards and upwards!

Mine was a really good year which now that i think of it has me worried that 2010 will try and even that out

Okay, got my degree and started my masters. Without a doubt this has been one of the worst decade of my life, so much fucked up shit. The last ten years have been pretty shit, let's hope the next ten are a damn sight better!

Started it with shingles, ended it with a broken leg and a DVT.

    ...

    Good times!

Best year of my life probaly. Finished school, started college. First time going out to clubs, first holiday with friends, first a lot of things... ;):p Overall I really enjoyed it, I'm starting to become more myself if that makes sense. 2010 has a lot to beat!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 699 ✭✭✭ashyle

I've had better... Lost 2 of my extended family, two grandaunties. Also hating the government's financial planning cos of the stress my parents have to deal with.

On the plus side, got to see a lot of my little Norwegian cousins as they lived close by in Dublin for 8 months, went to some fab gigs, went on nice hols, had a fling or two, turned 21, made it to second year in college and started watching MASH!! (Discovery of the year for me :P)

Started pretty shít. Got a bit better around the start of summer but dipped again around August/September. Then improved from about October onwards.

2010 should be ok. (I hope).

    Craptastic.
Did things I swore I'd never do, cried far, far too much, got pushed beyond my limits
but fúck it I am still standing and more aware of what my strengths are but the last
decade can go suck my cock, the next one had best be better.

2009 was an education in the extreme. Some extremely rotten things happened and they shook me but I'm damned if I'm gonnna write off a whole year of my life as I learned **** loads about life, myself and other people. Looking forward to a fresh year and ready to see the good in it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,150 ✭✭✭LivingDeadGirl

Probably the most turbulent year I've had in a long time.

I feel different, like I'm changing, and that a lot more change is on it's way towards me in 2010.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,016 ✭✭✭Blush_01

I achieved my goal for the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,099 ✭✭✭Dean820

Had a great summer, every other part of the year was crap.

Learned to live on and be content with very little so it is good to know if the worst comes we can deal with it. Saved a ****eload for difficult times ahead so i'm reasonably relaxed.

My first child was born in 2009 and for this reason alone it's been the best year ever for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,972 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    It was solid.

Lost my job in March but picked up another one easy enough that pays about ten grand more. Went on a good few holidays (Ireland, Denmark, Vanuatu and Broome) and generally had a really good time.

If I top it in 2010 then it'll be some effort.

Started out badly chest infection for 3 weeks.Had its ups and downs. But have all my exams done so that's the main thing. If the few things I'm aiming to do in 2010 come through for me should be a good year.

Started out fairly bad but it's been steadily improving all year. I'm quietly optimistic for next year :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 127 ✭✭A quiet one

Went to the doctor for what I thought was just an annoyance.
Found out that I've got an incurable progressively degenerating disease.
First the tablets gave me a normality I had forgotten, but it didn't last for more than a few days.
For a while there I was going down hill so rapidly that it seems the drugs were losing.
But I recovered and am now no longer falling over things etc and no longer need the tablets either.
Even get to go party tonight (-:

How can you hate something that doesn't exist ? :D

Decent enough start to the year, and a few high points along the way, but overall sickening - having been responsible and cut my cloth to measure all the way - to not be in a position to see stability and lack-of-worries beyond a two-month window.

Bit of a ****ty year, well, half of it,started the new year living in Australia, came home in May and after the 2 weeks or so of meeting everyone I hadnt seen in a while,it all went downhill. No job prospects, crap going on at home and a whole lot of other stuff makes these last 6 months a ****ty way to wind down the year.

    Bring on 2010

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 596 ✭✭✭Bonkers_xOx

I try to focus on the good stuff.
I got to see New York and Paris this year which will probably never happen again so I'm happy.

Oh and I met Ginger Stephen from the Apprentice which was also one of the highlights of my year.

2009 - Hmmm.....Definitely a tale of recession and change for me. When I was told I was going to be made redundant last January is was a shock even with all the media speculation and hype going on at the time. It was a year of doubt and uncertainty for me. Was due to hit the dole queue this month only to land myself a new job with the same company just a month before that. I consider myself lucky but have family and friends that have lost their jobs this year. Anyway things are looking up for the year ahead. Roll on 2010.:)

2009 was what you made of it. Pure and Simple. It gave us chicken **** and I made chicked salad.

Life is good, and it is going to get even better.

Lead, follow or get the **** out of the way. Life is not a spectator sport.

I had a pretty good year, went to arsenal in january, started new degree at college doing a subject I love, spent good bit of the summer working in China (lack of contact with Irish banter caused me to start properly posting on boards I think!), still get regular part time hours in a good job.

Just need to sort out the aul love life and everythins dandy!

Great year for me really. Turned 18, did well enough in the Leaving Cert, got into college, started college, went to Amsterdam, London, Brussels, I Love Techno festival... Also Ireland and Leinster did excellent in rugby and I went to a good few of the games along the way, so yeah, a good year :)

All year long? Mad tantric job, was it?

For me, it was OK. Has been really good since I moved to France (barring the being in France bit, which I'll never adjust too!), but was really **** for a lot of close friends, so it gets a 5/10 from me...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,346 ✭✭✭✭homerjay2005

wow, so much negativity towards 2009. personally, I though it was a super year, loads of highlights and very few low lights.

heres hoping 2010 will be better for everybody.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭Vinta81

It was pretty good, back to college again and loving the course I chose. Got closer with my friends, fab summer, new job. Turned 21 :D and had a fabulous night for it!

Only downer, a certain boy we were back and forth and never in a relationship, it consumed me too much, so 2010 it's all about me, not the opposite sex :D
