Help needed: Laptop fell, now responding slowly on startup

My 2 year old Sony Vaio had a rather violent fall to the ground while running.

It refused to start up at first but following a few restarts and trying the hard hard drive repair tool once, it started working again.

Only problem is that it runs very slowly on start up. Start up takes 3-4x what it used to while loading individual programmes is a little slower. But, once running, things are more or less normal.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Hard drive? RAM? Something else?

    Thanks.

Damaged hard drive. Backup any data you need from the drive now in case it dies.

    +1, I'd do it asap.
