I saw this on a Landcruiser the other night

You reckon it would be of any addition?

Thats a pretty poor job of wrapping the wheel, I have seen it done but would be wary of fouling the brakes, there is not a whole lot of room behind the wheel and brake rotor.
One loose bit of rope and you might have even more fun stopping.

The non floating calipers on the 'cruiser are real tight to the rim.

Don't know how you would get the rope through to be honest

If you knew your stuff you could splice a ring for each side with an eye to tension it, and splice it across to make a ladder, like a snow chain but made from rope.
Wouldn't last long but could be done if necessary.

I towed a few boys (50+) since this snow started, mainly bucks in cars/vans but the strangest thing I seen was one lad had plastic bags tied in the same manner around the wheels of his avensis...he drove about 5 feet and 1 wheel spin later they were gone. What his thinking was I'll never know.

Anybody got suggestions for a good snow tyre you can buy in Ireland?

I put a set of VREDESTEIN WINTRAC EXTREME tyres on my car in October in anticipation of a cold winter, they are fantastic in the snow and very good on ice too (compared to my old summer tyres)
