I'm only in first year now but I'm really nervous about the junior cert!Anyway I do:

    Cspe
    Religion
    French
    Irish
    History
    Geography
    Maths
    Business
    Typing
    English

    For exam subjects.
I was wondering if junior cert is really bad and hard and do you have to know EVERYTHING in the books? Please reply and could you give me some tips for studying?

I'd say that it's nearly impossible to learn off everything on the course for every exam and the Junior cert is no exception.I wouldn't worry about it especially in first year as it's basically just a test to see if you know what's going on in class. It's you r first real exam so your going to feel nervous but if you do 2-3 hours study a night after christmas in 3rd year then you'll be fine.idn't know typing was a subject in the JC.Is it a new one, because I don't think it was there wen I did the JC.

Typewriting has been a subject in the Junior since the start afaik. It was there in the days of Group and Inter. too.

OP - keep up with your homework and make sure to ask your teachers if there is something you do not understand. The Junior Cert. exam is designed for candidates to do as well as possible. You will hear lots of people say it doesn't matter, but if you understand what you learn for Junior Cert. it will give you a great start for the Leaving.

Don't worry so much. If you like, you can look at some past examination papers on http://www.examinations.ie under 'Examination Material Archive'.
I bet there are parts of the papers you could answer fully now. You'll be fine.

    Hey Rebecca,

Don't be nervous and don't be worried about the Junior Cert already! Seriously, the JC isn't a big deal at all and you've got ages until it anyway. As long as you keep on top of your school work and do your homework this year and next year and do a bit of study in third year you'll be grand! (You don't need to know EVERYTHING in all of your txt books but you'll have the general idea of whats in each chapter by 3rd year from revision in summer and x-mas exams anyway. You'll be able to remember more than you think!) Third year is not as bad as people make it out to be anyway and seriously, don't worry yourself or you'll be seriously stressed by the time you get to the JC year. Just enjoy yourself for now, try and get along with your teachers (they hold grudges!) and make the most of your social life until you get into an exam year ;)

My JC is in a few months and I havn't studied at all yet!:pac:

Lol, good luck in secondary school love!:D

Seriously, dont worry, just do the homework and you'll be grand. In second year its easy to fall into a rut and just do nothing, but make sure you dont, especially for Irish....
No need at all to study now, just make sure that you can do whatever it is you are doing in class now (it'll be easier to revise), and dont worry about christmas/summer tests, they mean absolutely nothing, I got 52 in my Christmas maths test, yet Im only after getting 89 in a HL mock.

    Overall, just reeeelax
    :D

    and another thing....
if you think about, for most things you only need to study about 60% of the book.
    Good Luck

No way!! Absolutely under no circumstances take that advice. Learn what you are taught and advised by your teachers. And you should study in 1st year if you have class tests, and Christmas and Summer tests. If you are consistent with your work, you'll succeed!
