so when z-day finnaly comes how are we all going to stay in contact??

most likely electricity will go after a week so boards and email are out of the question! theres phones which will go along with electricity!

whats left apart from tin cans and string??

Well,there is smoke signals.

Or,we use boards to get our stuff sorted now and know what to do when Z-day comes.

Contact will still be available a few days after an outbreak and you can use that time to make concrete plans if you need to keep in contact with people or if you have to meet up with anybody in the near future.

IMO keeping contact with people isnt as important as surviving the 1st week, of which I still expect to have some ability to keep in contact.

One method is a CB radio or similar a 2 way radio that can run form a generator or batteries and you can contact anybody with a similar setup.

yeah! but how many of us know smoke signals??

message in a bottle is too risky as the person you receive it from could already be dead or moved place!!

obviously the survivors will occupy all the higher positions so Beacons and Semaphore are reasonable options

Smoke is fairly unnatural, thus you know a human started it (Unless lightning struck something).
