    He shouts at the car to "Go, beside me" the only word I can hear is "behind" (In French), I think the German commentator says something about Jens back wheel not being put on correctly (Should have done German classes when I was living there, ah well).

    I saw that during the Tour, IIRC he was in a break and his team car wasn't near him so he had to get a wheel from the Mavic neutral service. Not 100% sure what was wrong with the change but he didn't seem happy with it. Impression I got when watching it was that he was just pissed off from losing contact with the break but there could have been more.

    He has to swap wheels if I remember correctly. Something to do with the Mavic wheel being a slightly different width than the wheels he was using. They did make it sound true on Eurosport at the time but I'm not sure how that is possible as I thought all wheel hubs were the same size.

    Road hubs are all the same size. There are a number of things that could have happened in terms of incompatibilities- rim may have been slightly different width regarding braking or (unlikely) they could have given him a cassette with incompatible spacing. Saxo were on Shimano so unlikely he was given Campagnolo (SRAM is Shimano compatible.) Even if this did happen it would still work I believe, I have used an 8 speed Shimano wheel on 10 speed drivetrain and it worked pretty fine! So maybe there was something else, he seems to adjust the QR... Or maybe he was just frustratred.

    Does this relate to the crash he had in tour, if so, how so?

    If not, did they ever discover what caused the crash?

    Don't think it relates to tour crash-That was simply loss of front wheel traction on white line.

    Looks like the Mavic tech took too long to put in the new wheel. That's common because a) they're probably not as experienced as a good team mechanic and more importantly b) team wheels will be set up so that the can slot into the dropouts and the qw closed in one motion; mavic have to leave the qr less screwed on, then screw it tight and close the quick release, this is because all the bikes have slightly different thicknesses of dropout and they have to be ready for any of them. Looks like the mech under-tightened it from the way we see Jens messing with it at the end of that clip.

    Who thinks they could perform a smooth and quick wheel change with Jens muttering german epithets in your ear? I couldn't. I'd gibber.

    Secondly, a team car will tow a rider back up to the group he had been before the wheel change. This is not strictly legal, but commissars generally seem to allow it. I think this is why Jens goes a bit spare at having the mavic car just sit behind him.

    a combination of gravity, velocity, wind speed, traction, road surface, pebble, atmospheric pressure, [fade to insignificance], and LUCK/Fate :D

    it was a crash, they are a dime a dozen in bike racing, just another day at the tour!

    He had three reasons for yelling;
    -the wheel change took unnecessarily long
    -it wasnt done right (doesnt say what was wrong tho..)
    -they wouldnt tow him back up to the break even after these screw-ups
