http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=thomastown%20kilkenny%20to%20gorey%20wexford%20map&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl Id go with this one but take it easy on the cullentragh pass it could be slippy that high up. The tinnehinch to ballymurphy to kiltealy will be the worst bit road surface wise.

Didnt really have a choice! Made it all the same, Leaving from thomastown and headed through Inistioge and headed for the ferry bridge, on up the r30. Take it fair slow but met 3 gritters so was happy enough with the roads!

sorry i wasnt much help, the route you took was the most straight forward. as the crow flies is not always the way to go, bad roads and all that.
