I have a 3GS iPhone, had to do a restore but half way through the computer crashed and I had to reboot. Now the when I try and restore in iTunes it keeps telling me that the phone has been re-set to Factory settings, that it's in recovery mode but it won't restore and none of my back-ups seem to be on iTunes anymore.

    Help? :o

what operating system are you using?

    If Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

    If Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates

Delete files that end with a .ipsw.
and try again with the above process.

or you could try from different computer.

    Gem ,
Sounds like you you are stuck in a " recovery mode loop" .
Is your phone showing the USB/iTunes logo ?

Thanks guys, I read that an error (6) might be due to Java needing to be updated and that seemed to do the trick in the end - phone recovered on the eigth attempt

    Really appreciate the suggestions :) (deep1 I'm working from Vista - I know, I know, awful :o)
