o think this should be dropped now before the lynching party really gets hold of it.

If someone is being given misinformation I'm just curious about what was said like any other player would be

I've never seen silicone oil in Lidl, must have another look soon. It's a bit thicker than other brands though isn't it?

It's normally in the car section, it's the one with a black lid.

not really, just thought in light of all the crap thats gone on in the past and new talks and PEACE amongst all airsofters and retailers and representative bodies alike that it dident seem like a good idea to start a witchhunt on a silicone question thread.

if every piece of misinformation that a customer/player got was posted up here there would be plenty of ammo to defame shops or individuals .
just look at your thank you,s and the wolfs are biting silently at the cage door.

enough said by me i dont want to be seen to be in a disagreement with a mod and get a ban.
    thank you
    and regards
    paddy

To be honest not shops or people, just MIA.
I apologise for going off topic but my last dealing with them was one that involved me getting abused by a member of staff, merely for pointing out that one of their facts was wrong. In any other airsoft shop I've been to, I have never been treated like that. There is no doubt MIA are a bunch of (insert generic term here, to be honest I don't care). Downgrades are shoddy, upgrades are shoddy. Customer service and facts are messed up. I'm sorry but they are a joke.
I'll realise I may infact get banned, infracted or whatever and that Boards.ie has no free speech, but there's my point.
    Apologies for going off topic.

On topic: I've found the 3-In-1 range of lubricants very good.

I kind of agree with you. Everyone makes mistakes, not everyone is all-knowing, and sometimes people give out wrong information.

Everyone also knows theres no love lost between myself and MIA, but I'm not going to single them out. They have an excellent range of products, and they have their fans. Some people hate them, some people love them. Thats life.

BUT....and again, not singling out MIA or any other retailer....there are FAR too many retailers in this country who have absolutely NO reservations about lying to their customers about their competition, their products and airsoft in general in order to make a quick buck.

When I started started this lark over two years ago, airsoft in Ireland was a tight knit community of like-minded people who helped each other out whenever possible. Now it seems to be populated with a vocal minority of arrogant condescending arseholes who carry on like a bunch of prissy schoolgirls.

Of all the retailers in this country, theres maybe 4 or 5 I like and trust, and wouldn't hesitate to direct business their way if I couldn't satisfy a customer, and I think they'd do the same, because they, and I, feel the ultimate aim is to make your customer happy.

There's too many retailers now who dont give a crap about their customer, or airsoft iteself, other than as a means to finance a new widescreen LCD TV. More power to them if thats how they feel, but if they spout lies in order to make a sale, I dont see why they shouldnt be called on it publically.

I have my fair share of disatisfied customers and we in Eirsoft have made mistakes which I'm willing to put my hand up to and try to fix, and I dont mind defending ourselves or apologising in public for those mistakes. I'm pretty sure we'll inadvertantly make more in the future too, because we're all human. But no-one, and I mean NO-ONE, can truthfully say I or anyone who represented Eirsoft misled them into buying something to make a quick buck.

any other silicon oil, silicon oil IS silicon oil:p

Just a thought, what was said to you, could have been true, there are many type's of silicone oil.

    non-petroleum based silicone groups.

petroleum based silicone groups, or products with Hexane as a propellant.

So the silicone oil, you would need for airsoft would need to be non-petroleum based, 100% silicone oil, most R/C hobby shops have this one, you will need 10 weight and
60 weight, the 10 weight, is for rubber hops and valves and outer body, and 60 weight is for things that Slide or metal on metal.

This is a bit like buying oil for your car.

If you have a Ford they will tell you to use only Ford oil & if you have an Opal they will tell to use only Opal oil, but if you go into a spares shop they will give you the same oil for both motors.

You can either pay the extra for oil to a particular specification from a main dealer say oil is oil & get it for less from a spares shop.

So if an Airsoft retailer recommends only silicone oil specifically formulated for airsoft products they are just giving "best advise".

Me I use the Lidl stuff & it's got a yellow top
