TKD-competitions

    I've been training in taekwondo for a few months now and I'd really like to enter a few competitions.Would anyone be able to advise me on which would be good one's to enter?also would I be able to compete in K1 only having trained in TKD and a bit of Muay thai?thanks

    Short answer from me is that I don't think a few months TKD would prepare you for K1 style competition.

    I'm not saying it's useless, but I used to do kick-boxing at an ITF club and there are plenty of things about it which mean you would have to do additional training for K1.
    You'd need to have plenty of hard contact sparring before you enter anything like that, and I don't think most TKD places would have you doing that until you'd reached a fairly high grade.

    EDIT: Oh yeah forgot to ask. Have you asked your TKD coach about this? He/she would probably know best how ready you are.

    Not yet I'll ask my coach about this after christmas.I didn't consider entering any competitions until now.

    Basically, you'll need to paractice sparring with hard contact, low kicks and clinching.

    There are some shows that do K-1 rules [aka International Kickboxing rules] check with your trainers about that if you want to fight K-1 rules.
