How long would people be training for typically before entering a Novice fight?

joeyhehir, sorry I somehow missed your post. You are only allowed compete in the IFMA events if you are over 15yrs, although we have plenty of Juniors taking part in novice events here. As regards an Irish national event, it would be pretty pointless IMHO as there is no head contact allowed if you are under 15yrs and until we get a huge amount of compeditors in the 15-18 age group, there is no point in having a Junior national event.
How long would people be training for typically before entering a Novice fight?

This will differ from club to club. But in my own case, I don't have a specified time period, its all down to the indivdual's ability and that tends to vary a great deal.
