North Tipp to Sligo Tomorrow - Which Route?

Im leaving around 8:30am tomorrow for Sligo.

I could either go through Limerick, Galway, Tuam etc but my Sat Nav is telling me to go

Nenagh, Athlone, Roscommon linking up north of Carrick on Suir and onwards.

I think if the roads are just wet I can actually make better time on the midlands route.

What are the roads expected to be like tomorrow which will ultimately make my decision for me?

Weather aside I'd go the midlands route. Weather included it's probably all much of a muchness.

If you link up with Carrick-on-Suir from Roscommon, you've gone very wrong! :D
Galway route is horrible, but a safer bet. Some packed ice on back roads.

Down the M4/N4 and then onto the N8/M8 ? small bit of back roads between em. Should be good.

North of Carrick on Suir, i.e through Boyle connecting onto the N4(north of Carrick on Suir).

Im not a big fan of the roads from Tuam to Sligo so may go the meandering national routes ONLY if I can be assured they will be as safe as the N18/N17.

Pssst Flamegrill.........................N8/M8..............way off really, no? :D

Galway had snow today and will probaly get some more, Charlestown saw an ice related accident.

The area around Tulsk / Boyle has been icy for the last few days and doesn't seem to be improving ...so all in all it's bit of a muchness.

Neither route could be classified as nice to drive even in good weather.

Sligo county still has iced up back roads and icy patches on the main routes can't be ruled out.

Check the AA site before you head off tomorrow and/or toss a coin

Carrick-on-Suir is on the Tipp/Waterford boarder. Carrick-on-Shannon is on the N4, a bit south of Boyle.

Carrick on Suir is an extremly lovely place :)
With a location in Kikenny you're not far off. From Tipp North it's a fair trek alright.

Having done both your routes at some stage, I'd take the Galway route but realy not a whole lot in it, hope conditions are good for you
