Hi, (posted in games forum but better suited here)

About to get a shiny new Dell laptop but want one capable of handling CoD MW2. Any suggestions. Basically a laptop capable of playing games.

Note: I only buy Dell so no HP, Acer suggestions etc.

    Thx

    Budget would help. A lot.

I would start off looking at the Studio 15 and 17, with ATI 4570. Thats about as low as I would go, and that will be capable of basic gaming. MW2 will be playable at medium(ish) settings, so long as you keep AA off and don't go too high on the res.

The next upgrade is the ATI 4650, available on the Studio 17. Its significantly faster than the 4570, but at a cost. You'd have to check what the upgrade cost is.

The next highest card they offer is the ATI 4670. Its slightly better than the 4650, but is only available on the Studio XPS line.

Thats pretty much as high as you can go while staying reasonably priced. The Alienware M15x and M17x offer very high performance, but they are overpriced compared to the competition.

Also be aware that ATI are rolling out the 5000 series mobile cards in the new year, so keep an eye out on the Dell site to see if they upgrade any of the Studio or Studio XPS models.

    Budget is about €1,500.

I was looking at the studio XPS 16 with 2.8Ghz CPU and 1GB ATI.

    What you think ?
